Huge lighthouse ‘house’ on distant island on sale for £80k – however there is a catch

Four lighthouse keeper’s buildings on a remote Scottish island, only accessible by sea or air, are up for grabs at a mere £80k – but there’s a huge catch.

The lighthouse keeper’s cottage and its outbuildings, situated on the uninhabited Copinsay in the Orkney Isles, are being touted as the “renovation opportunity of a lifetime.”

The two-storey main building boasts seven bedrooms, and the sale also includes “practical outbuildings,” such as a shed and tractor shed – not to mention two helicopter pads for easier mainland access.

Regrettably, the lighthouse itself is not part of the deal – it’s owned and remotely controlled by the Northern Lighthouse Board from their Edinburgh headquarters.
