Kate Beckinsale says worrying about her mom triggered weight reduction
Kate Beckinsale recent weight loss alarmed fans and now the Hollywood star has spoken about the ‘difficult’ time she is going through.
The actress, 50, spent weeks in hospital with a stress-related tear in her oesophagus after her stepfather, Roy Battersby, died and her mother, Judy Loe, developed cancer.
‘I just think people go through things in their life and we all face difficulties and I’ve been quite transparent about mine,’ she tells me at the Summer Gala by Gala One at the Golf Club Saint-Tropez.
‘I’ve just been mainly dealing with my mother and she’s doing OK.’
Kate, the daughter of late Porridge star Richard Beckinsale, was disappointed by some guests who talked over her as she tried to speak about the charity’s initiatives.
She yelled: ‘Given that none of you are f*****g listening, I could speak to myself.’

It comes as Kate put on a show-stopping display at the Summer Gala in Gassin, France earlier this week.
The actress of Underworld and The Aviator cut a glamorous figure in the elegant Raisa Vanessa gown as she posed for snaps at the event, which aims to raise funds to support the protection of children and the conservation of biodiversity.
Kate flaunted her incredible figure in the skintight black dress, which boasted a plunging sweetheart neckline and an oversized gold peplum.
The star teamed her look with chunky platform heels, and swept her glossy brunette tresses into a voluminous 60s-esque hairstyle.
Earlier this month, she revealed her weight loss is down to the ‘stress and grief’ of the death of her stepfather and her mother’s cancer diagnosis as she hit back at trolls.
The actress slammed some of her ‘a**hole’ followers, who told her she needed to put on weight in the comments section of an Instagram post.
After sharing a video clip in a crop top and bikini bottoms, one follower queried where her ‘a**’ had gone and encouraged Kate to ‘do some squats’.
Another claimed her body had ‘shrank’ while another insisted that she ‘seemed upset’ in the video posted on Monday evening.
However, Kate fired back at the cruel comments ands explained that there were several reasons for her changed figure, including a six-week hospital stint.

‘My mum also has stuff going on. I am adjusting to watching two fathers die, one when I was 5, one in January of this year,’ she told critical fans
Fans were worried for the blonde beauty because she recently posted photos of herself in the hospital looking frail
She replied: ‘No, actually, I watched my stepfather die quite shockingly, my mother has stage 4 cancer and I lost a lot of eight from stress and grief…
‘Quite quickly and then I was in hospital for six weeks because the grief had burned a hole in my oesophagus, which made me vomit copious amounts of blood, and I found eating very hard…
‘And I just worked very very hard on a movie that was actually quite triggering because it also involved the theme of the death of my father so I’m not really concerned about what you think about my a**.
‘Maybe you should worry about your own f***ing a**. I suggest shoving something up it, like a large pineapple or a brick.’
Kate’s stepdad Roy Battersby died in January after suffering ‘a massive stroke’ while battling two forms of cancer, which he was diagnosed with the summer before.
Shortly after his death, Kate also revealed that her mother Judy Loe had also been told she has stage four cancer.
