Cindy Crawford and daughter Kaia Gerber take the Paris Olympics

Cindy Crawford and her daughter Kaia Gerber oozed glamour as they took their prime seats by the Seine for the Paris Olympics Opening Ceremony.

Both of them have worked extensively as models in Paris, which is regarded as one of the western world’s four fashion capitals.

Kaia, 22, slid her enviably petite frame into a sleek strapless fossil grey dress, perfectly fitted to emphasize her slender waistline.

She and her mother were seated on the banks of the Seine – a perfect spot to watch the show, much of which was scheduled to take place on the water.

Despite wearing summery outfits, both Cindy and Kaia came prepared with umbrellas for the torrential downpour that marred the outdoor event.

Cindy, one of the reigning 1990s Supermodels, was the image of chic in a high-waisted pair of flowy white trousers that played up her vertiginous legs.

She teamed the slacks with a plunging dull blue sleeveless top, offering a slight hint of cleavage as she added her showbiz luster to the crowd.

In a video Cindy posted to her Instagram page on Saturday, she and Kaia could be seen chatting merrily in their seats before the show began.

Her album included a snap of the mother and daughter strolling through the rain-sodden streets, umbrellas in hand.

Cindy also occasionally accessorized her ensemble with a bright red hoodie and an Omega baseball cap, in another concession to the inclement weather.

‘What a kickoff!’ wrote Cindy in her Instagram caption, closing out with a touch of patriotic fervor as she added: ‘Let’s go team USA!’

They were on hand for a rollercoaster spectacle of wacky performances that have proven sharply polarizing among audiences around the world.

Lady Gaga divided opinion with her rendition of Mon truc en plumes (My Thing With Feathers), a song popularized by the late dancer and camp icon Zizi Jeanmaire.

While some viewers praised her for having the courage to sing in another language, others criticized her lackluster pronunciation.

However Celine Dion earned widespread acclaim for her thunderous comeback performance in front of the Eiffel Tower at the end of the ceremony.

She emotionally belted out the ballad Hymne à l’amour (Hymn to Love), made famous by Edith Piaf, the legendary queen of French song.

The moment marked Celine’s first live performance in four years, after she withdrew from the spotlight amid her grueling battle with stiff person syndrome.
