Probe for twisted horse killer following a ‘sickening’ assault
- Alfie was found dead in a property in Nottinghamshire on Thursday morning
- Police are now asking horse owners in the area to be vigilant
A manhunt is underway after a twisted killer mutilated a horse before leaving it to die in a field.
Alfie, a 16-year-old cob, was found butchered in the ‘sickening assault’ on Owday Lane, Carlton-in-Lindrick, Worksop in Nottinghamshire, on Thursday morning.
The traditional tri-coloured cob was last seen alive at around 7pm on Wednesday before his owner bathed Alfie and turned him out in a field for the night.
The ‘heartless’ assault on the defenceless creature has left his owner ‘distraught’, police say.
Detectives are now appealing for witnesses and are warning horse owners in the area to be vigilant, in case of similar attacks.
