Bloke splashes money on UK’s most costly fish and chips however was upset
A hungry bloke took a jab at the UK’s poshest fish and chips, claiming they’re “bland” and that his local chippy dishes out far superior grub.
Callum Ryan, 23, was buzzing to sample the nosh at Kerridge’s Fish & Chips nestled in the swanky Harrods, London, dishing up £37 for a single serving. On top of that, he shelled out £4.95 for a glass of Coke, which saw him take to the internet to rage.
The content creator from Buckinghamshire fumed: “I was really excited to go along a give it a try but I was disappointed. The food was average and I’d honestly rather go to my local chippy.”

“It’s the most expensive fish and chips in the UK and I’d expect a bit more. I was a little bit disappointed with how bland it looked and tasted. The vibe was top-notch and really cool but for what you’re paying, it ain’t worth it. At the end of the day, it’s just fish and chips.”
Adding insult to injury, Callum spotted a baffling £1 “cover charge” on his bill a first for him. “I guess it must just be a posh people thing,” he remarked.
The establishment thrown into the limelight by celeb chef Tom Kerridge back in June 2021 has been a target of annoyance over its hefty price tags. Kerridge has previously tackled flak for the pricing on Times Radio, saying: “I’m seen as a man of the people, so when I put fish and chips on for £35, they shout at me for it being expensive. But the people criticising me don’t understand how it’s priced.”
Callum praised the restaurant’s atmosphere as “great” and rated the service by staff as “10 out of 10.” However, he admitted that the steep price would deter him from returning. “If I had spent a tenner I’d be happy, but I just can’t justify it at that price,” Callum confessed.
He did commend the sauces, particularly the curry sauce, which he called “amazing,” but admitted that if “the price was different it would have been an enjoyable experience”.
The breakdown of his spend included:
- Portion of fish & chips for £37.00
- Glass of coke for £4.95
- Cover charge at £1
- Service charge at £5.24
- Total: £48.19
