- This is Williams’ second medal of the Olympics after his silver with Tom Daley
Noah Williams has claimed bronze in the men’s 10-metre platform diving with a sensational comeback, adding another flourish to Team GB’s bag of diving joys.
The 24-year-old looked down and out five dives in when he found himself languishing in fifth place.
However, final scores of 93.60 and 94.35 were enough to see Williams over the line and hand him his first individual Olympic medal.
Earlier in the Games he found form with Tom Daley in the synchronised 10m event as they surged to silver.
In this individual event China’s Cao Yuan won the gold medal while Rikuto Tamai of Japan took silver.

Mexico’s Randal Valdez could have denied this fifth medal as Williams watched on nervously.
Indeed, Williams had only qualified 12th for the final – not the most optimistic forecast of a podium lace.
But Valdez fluffed his lines, meaning Williams’ extraordinary final two dives were enough to guarantee Team GB another night of celebration.
His team-mate Kyle Kothari had to settle for 11th.
Alongside Williams’ successes, Team GB came third in the women’s synchronised 3m springboard, the men’s synchronised 3m springboard, and the women’s synchronised 10m platform.
Yasmin Harper and Scarlett Mew Jensen picked up Team GB’s first medal of the Games in the former, also becoming the squad’s first female diving medalists in 64 years.
