  • Browne, 30, was eventually carried away on a stretcher as fans applauded him

The men’s keirin event at Paris 2024 was temporarily suspended on Saturday following a horror crash that saw Kwesi Browne fly off his bike.

It occurred on the final lap when multiple athletes were all pushing hard for a victory while cycling close together.

Concern for the 30-year-old from Trinidad and Tobago was high as he lay on the track following the incident.

He eventually left the Velodrome National on a stretcher as fans showed their support with applause.

There was then relief around the arena when Browne was able to remove his gloves and direct a thumbs up gesture towards the crowd while he was being carried away by medical staff.
