‘Stood up’ man performs Wetherspoons sport however will get inundated with greater than drinks

A cheeky chap who claimed he’d been stood up on the Wetherspoons The Game Facebook page was quickly inundated with more than just drinks.

Gareth Coulthurst posted in the infamous group and not only did the pints start flowing, but so did the offers for a date. The Welshman wrote: “Hi been stood up if anyone wants to cheer me up with a drink. Pen Cob Pwllheli table number 22 thanks in advance.”

The comments came in thick and fast. One replied: “Her loss” as another added: “I’d definitely have a drink with you.”

“On my way,” said another followed by a kissing face emoji. One woman replied: “If only I was nearer lol.”

Another wrote: “Got you a Strongbow Dark Fruits and a Baby Guiness shot. Hope you have a great night and meet someone better while you’re in there!”

But one commented: “f this was a woman and all the men were saying this we would be misogynistic!”

Some suggested Gareth could’ve meant he was stood up by his friends as some online sleuths pointed out a woman in his profile picture leading them to think he wasn’t single.

But it still didn’t stop one person announcing: “Feeling the love in this post.”

The Facebook group, which has over 715k members was born when the pub chain started offering table service during the coronavirus pandemic. But now it has evolved into a popular game which also helps to feed the homeless.

It involves players posting their location and table number on the Facebook page and kind-hearted members can remotely order drinks and food to their table.

Last week, the Daily Star reported how an American was given a true British welcome to the UK pub scene while playing the game.

Content creator, Spencer Joyce took to YouTube to document his experience but was branded a “lightweight” when he had to tap out after nine pints.
