George Michael relative claims popstar is speaking with him by radio
George Michael’s cousin has made the astonishing claim that he was contacted by the late pop star’s spirit through his car radio.
Chris Antoniou, 60, was on his way to Sainsbury’s when his radio suddenly went static and he heard George’s voice calling his name, he revealed. Later that day, the same thing happened again, but this time the voice said “I’m free”, according to Chris.
The Wham! frontman’s cousin is convinced that these messages are George communicating that he is now at peace.
The retired civil servant from Aldershot, Hampshire, expressed his shock at the experience: “I was shocked – it was totally amazing, it completely lifted my spirits.”

He added: “We had a good connection. I think I understood him more than anyone else, so I think that’s why he contacted me.”
Chris claims he heard the voice on July 29. He was even more taken aback when later that evening, he heard his cousin’s voice once again.
Recalling the incident, Chris said: “The same thing happened, the radio went all static but this time George’s voice said ‘I’m free’.”
Despite his efforts, Chris hasn’t been able to hear his late relative’s voice since the supernatural event. Reflecting on the message, he said: “I suppose it was just a message saying that he is free now.”
He also shared some memories of George, saying: “He always wanted to be famous, but when it happened it was quite hard for him. When we went to Greek weddings and stuff he was always there and saying how he wanted to be famous.”
Chris reminisced about his teenage years when he discovered George had hit the big time.
“One day my dad just said to me ‘George is on Top of the Pops’,” he recalled. “It all happened so quickly for him.”
Chris, now a retired civil servant, expressed his shock at the events but also felt “very happy” that George reached out to him.
“I think maybe he was looking down realising that I was unhappy,” Chris mused. “When he said ‘I’m free’ I understood what he meant.”
The iconic George Michael passed away on Christmas day in September 2016 at the age of 53.
He remains one of the best-selling music artists of all time, with estimated record sales ranging from 100 million to 125 million globally.
