EDEN CONFIDENTIAL: Kirstie Allsopp’s cousin revives household brewery

First Kirstie Allsopp‘s cousin Jamie revived the family’s brewery, which had been defunct for 62 years.

Now, I hear that the former hedge fund boss is opening a pub with the same name as one used by the Allsopps in the 19th century.

And, intriguingly, it’s on the site of a bar linked to a Donald Trump scandal.

The Blue Stoops in west London will be in the building which previously housed the Kensington Wine Rooms.

‘It has been a lifelong ambition of mine to revive my family’s lost beers and I’m delighted to open our first pub in 90 years,’ says Jamie Allsopp.

He does not say if he will retain the blue plaque above the door.

The light-hearted ‘Wine Rooms Heritage’ notice reads: ‘Donald Trump got into trouble here when a chat over wine turned to Russian hacking.’

It refers to the 2016 meeting between Trump’s then-adviser George Papadopoulos and Australia’s former high commissioner, Alexander Downer.

At the get-together, Papadopoulos is said to have boasted that Russia had political dirt on Hillary Clinton, who lost the US presidential election to Trump months later.

Downer passed on what he’d been told to Australian officials in Canberra, who later informed Washington of the revelations after Wikileaks released confidential emails from Clinton.

It led to allegations of collusion between Russia and Trump’s campaign, and the subsequent Mueller Report.

Eton-educated Allsopp, who has two children with his ex-wife, model Jacquetta Wheeler, gave up a career in finance in 2021 to become a brewer.

He bought back the Allsopp trademarks from Carlsberg and BrewDog and turned on the taps at Samuel Allsopp and Sons, founded in 1730.

‘[Location, Location, Location presenter] Kirstie will be getting a special discount code, so she can buy beer at cost,’ he told me at the time.

Standing ovation for John’s 90th

Stage and screen star John Standing, who has appeared in hit dramas The Crown and Game Of Thrones, turns 90 on Friday.

His secret to staying in shape is tap dancing. ‘I’ve got a tap board in my bedroom and do a bit of tap dancing each morning in order to keep fit,’ the Old Etonian baronet tells me.

‘It keeps my ankles loose, too.’

Noel’s guitar goes under the hammer

Noel Gallagher is selling the 1980 Gibson Flying V Guitar he played on the 1994 Oasis classic Cigarettes and Alcohol at Sotheby’s for £30,000.

The axe was lent to him by The Smiths’ guitarist Johnny Marr when the aspiring musician was short of a six string.

Will Gallagher remember to give him a cut of the proceeds? Marr also gave him a 1960 Gibson Les Paul, once owned by Pete Townshend.

But Gallagher smashed it up tackling a stage invader during a gig in Newcastle.

The guitar-shredding Who man would no doubt have approved.

The guitar was used to record the 1994 album Definitely Maybe which was the fastest-ever selling debut in the UK with hit songs Cigarettes and Alcohol and Live Forever

Some women try to avoid looking like their mothers, but model Georgia May Jagger is only too happy to be compared to Jerry Hall.

Georgia, 32, and Jerry, 68, wore matching dresses in this photograph shared online.

‘Polka dot mamas,’ commented Jerry. Georgia is expecting her first child with Cambryan Sedlick, 24, a skateboarder from Jerry’s native Texas.

The older model, who has three other children with Georgia’s father, the Rolling Stones star Sir Mick Jagger, is ‘excited’ to meet her ‘third grandbaby’.

‘I’ve learned the first thing I ask is, ‘Are you alone?’ says Harbour, 49.

‘Then she’ll pan around the room and there’ll be the girls, her mum, some guy from the coffee shop – there’s, like, eight people always – and I’ll be, like, ‘Let’s just talk on the phone’.’
