US Swifties who’ve spent THOUSANDS on European Eras Tour tickets

The US leg of her Eras Tour may have come to a close over a year ago – but Taylor Swift‘s American fanbase still aren’t quite ready to let go of her.

After performing her last show in California in August 2023, the pop sensation, 34, travelled around South America, Australia, Japan and Singapore – before kicking off her three-month European stint in France.

Since May, countless US-based Swifties have travelled across the pond for an opportunity to catch one of Taylor Swift’s in Europe – where tickets are considerably cheaper.

While seated tickets for Taylor’s upcoming Wembley shows are being resold on Stubhub for £500, entry into the star’s Miami concerts will cost upwards of $2,424.  

Earlier this month, Rob Volmer, from Washington DC, spent £18,000 taking his 15-year-old daughter and six of her friends to Warsaw to watch one of Taylor’s first Poland shows.

Speaking to FEMAIL, the doting father explained: ‘Tickets for Taylor Swift were $6,000 in Miami, but so much cheaper in Europe. We could have a whole trip for the same price.’ 

Meanwhile, one diehard Swiftie – who is based in St Louis, Missouri – has boasted about attending three Eras Tour shows this the UK.

To begin with, American student Sophia travelled over 4,000 miles to attend Taylor’s first Edinburgh show in June.

Posting on TikTok afterwards, the American student wrote: ‘Best night of my life.

‘I counted days, I counted mikes! One year of waiting, one night of pure magic.’

She then posted footage of Taylor performing This is What You Came For – a song she wrote under the pseudonym Nils Sjöberg – on the second night of the Liverpool concerts

Sophia captioned the clip: ‘Was screeching so loud. Sorry, I was BESIDE myself with excitement… didn’t even know this could be on the menu.’

The following night, Sophia attended Taylor’s third Liverpool concert and showed off her Reputation album-inspired outfit.

Although Sophia didn’t divulge how much she spent on tickets, general entry for UK shows typically ranged between £57-£182.

Meanwhile, flights from Missouri to Edinburgh are usually around £700.

As such, it was presumably cheaper for this diehard Swiftie to fly halfway across the world than see Taylor in nearby Kansas – where tickets sold for upwards of $1,485.

What’s more, Misty Daigle also flew from Mississippi to see Taylor Swift perform in Milan.

Sharing highlights from the concert on TikTok, the mother wrote: ‘Travelled over 5k miles with my daughter to make core memories at Taylor Swift is a core memory I’ll cherish forever.’

She added in the caption: ‘I’ll never get over this night.’

Although Taylor performed multiple nights in Texas and Georgia, where the cheapest tickets on the week of the concert were $724, seats at the Milan show were around $323, according to SeatPick.

Single mother Debra, from South Carolina, travelled more than 10,000 miles to attend the second night of Taylor’s Warsaw shows.

Debra and her daughter took six planes to get to the Polish capital and spent $730 on their concert tickets, which she bought from Viagogo. 

She said: ‘I mainly listen to Taylor Swift, going to her concert the first time turned me into a major fan. She’s definitely my favourite artist and my 11-year-old loves her.’ 

But shortly before the concert, Debra noticed that the font on their two tickets was slightly different to the typeface on the ones her best friend had purchased through the official seller eBilet.

After they looked at the metadata, they could see the tickets had been edited on an Apple device – confirming they were fraudulent. 

Debra said: ‘I’m crying at this point. You know, I’ve spent all this money, $730. That’s a lot of money for a single mother and that was just the ticket. That wasn’t including the hotels and everything else and the travel.’ 

StubHub’s parent organisation is Viagogo and it guarantees buyers that tickets will arrive in time for the event, be valid for entry and be exactly what they purchased. 

The American ticket exchange and resale company promises that in the event of an issue with the tickets, they will provide comparable or better tickets or offer a refund or credit for a future order. 

What’s more, US-based TikToker Neriya also posted about her experience of the Eras Tour in Poland, which was sadly tainted by a woman telling her and her sister they ‘looked like trash’.

Ahead of the concert, the teenage Swiftie posted a clip of her Fearless-inspired silver fringed dress, which she paired with cowboy boots.

In a viral video, which has amassed 8m views, Neriya and her sister filmed a woman who was stood behind them in the crowd and said: ‘Sorry but you look like trash.’

During the video, Neriya’s sister says: ‘This is a 40 year old lady telling two 16 and 15 year olds they look trash. We’re not responding or anything. She just keeps coming back.’ 

‘That’s very uncalled for,’ one supporter said. ‘I’m sorry that happened.’ 

Another added: ‘Sorry this happened, but you two young ladies handled this like the young mature boss ladies you gals are!!’

This summer, thousands of fans have struggled to get their hands of tickets, due to exceptionally high demand.

Fan who missed out on tickets – or had to fork out thousands on resale tickets, have shared their upset saying the tickets were sold to Americans, despite the singer doing 53 shows in the US and only playing 18 cities in Europe. 

Taking to social media after the show, fans have said they’re upset at the choice of some attendees to fly to Scotland, given that the singer hasn’t performed in the country in eight years.

Americans have said they struggled to get tickets in their home state, and added that European dates are significantly cheaper due to the strength of the dollar. 

Earlier this week, TikToker @thegrumpylibrarian raved that American fans ‘don’t know the meaning of enough.

Speaking to US fans, they raged: ‘You have main character syndrome. It’s not even about going to see Taylor Swift.

‘It’s a competition to gain social capital among Swifties and maybe even Taylor Swift herself.

‘You’ve commodified every aspect of being a Swiftie to the point where being *perceived* at the shows themselves seems more important than seeing the artist.

‘And blocking international fans from their chance to see a show you’ve seen 10 times before.’ 

 ‘Anyone can go to whatever eras show they want, it’s their money and choice. But it is a tiny bit wild seeing so many Americans go to Edinburgh when Taylor hasn’t performed in Scotland for 8 years,’ one fan wrote on X.

‘There are far too many Americans in Edinburgh for Taylor Swift. Yous had about 90 shows of your own p*** off!’ wrote another.

‘Why are there Americans here on the train to see Taylor Swift in Edinburgh you guys already had your turn??? Oh i am so annoyed,’ said another. 

‘Americans are so entitled they don’t understand why Europeans are upset at them grabbing the European taylor swift tickets just cause they’re cheaper for them,’ added one.

‘I loathe Americans what do you mean you’ve flown all the way to Scotland for a TAYLOR SWIFT CONCERT. I have walked passed more Americans today than I usually do in WEEKS . Insufferable,’ said another. 

‘So many rude Americans today I can’t cope. They either have no manners or they talk s*** about Scotland I can’t rn why come here to complain when Taylor Swift put on a whole a** American tour,’ wrote one.

‘Americans on the train saying how they are seeing Taylor Swift this weekend in Edinburgh. sin. 

‘I was ineligible for eras tour tickets for Cardiff, Liverpool and Edinburgh. How tf are Americans taking up london?,’ added one.  

‘This is why there is so much people not getting tickets in their own countries, I’ve been looking through twitter for maybe 5 mins and this is just a small amount of tweets/profiles of Americans saying they’re flying out for Edinburgh shows,’.

Taylor has already performed 53 dates in the US, she will return after the European leg to do nine more shows in Miami, New Orleans and Indianapolis. She will perform a total of 50 shows across 18 cities in Europe.
