Kate Middleton’s ‘no-nonsense’ second as William ‘dumped her and hit the city’

Following his phone break-up with Kate Middleton, Prince William reportedly hit the town with his friends – marking the end of their relationship in a way that was “humiliating” for her.

The Prince William we see today is a figure of loyalty and commitment to his family and nation. He consistently comes across as composed, courteous, and dependable.

However, like anyone else, William has allegedly had his foolish ‘moments’, or at least one. According to a royal biographer, this occurred immediately after he ended his long-term relationship with Kate Middleton, whom he had been dating for about four years since they met at St Andrews University in Edinburgh, where they both studied.

William had introduced Kate’s parents, Carole and Micheal Middleton, to the Queen at their graduation ceremony. The Middletons also attended his military graduation in 2006, and countless newspaper and magazine columns were filled with speculation about Kate becoming his future wife and eventually Queen, reports the Mirror.

Despite this, Prince William, as per a royal biographer, was not in a rush to pop the question. In fact, he reportedly had second thoughts about settling down with his teenage love.

In his latest book, Catherine, the Princess of Wales: The Biography, Robert Jobson alleges that Kate sensed something was off when William unexpectedly skipped a 2006 New Year’s Eve bash organised by her parents.

Following his absence at the event, he rang Catherine and ended their relationship in “an emotionally charged 30-minute conversation” where they both supposedly agreed they wanted different paths. This was when his questionable moment is alleged to have happened.

Kate decided to start hitting the town more herself

As reported by the Daily Mail, Jobson writes: “He celebrated their break-up with an alcohol-fuelled night at the Mahiki nightclub in Mayfair with his close pals. ‘I’m free!’ he shouted as he slipped into a drunken version of the robot dance. He then told his friends that they should all ‘drink the menu’, which they more or less ended up doing.”

Kate, according to Jobson, discovered his “juvenile antics” which appeared to signal a humiliating end to their relationship. However, she reportedly chose to maintain her dignity.

“Despite being heartbroken, Catherine decided to keep her pain hidden from the public eye,” he reveals. “Carole Middleton quickly whisked her devastated daughter away for a break in Dublin, providing a much-needed escape from media attention. William, on the other hand, simply drowned his sorrows at Mahiki and began shouting about being ‘free’.”

Upon her return, she resolved to give him a taste of his own medicine. “When Catherine came back, she decided she wasn’t going to sit around feeling sorry for herself; what was sauce for the goose was sauce for the gander,” writes Jobson.

After a girls’ trip to Ibiza with a friend, where they partied until dawn, Kate was frequently seen sporting more daring attire than ever before at nightclubs and events alongside her sister Pippa Middleton. She was even spotted in the company of Sir Henry Ropner, who she was rumoured to be seeing at the time.

Perhaps it was seeing his former flame looking so “vibrant and sociable” that made William realise what he had lost. Following William’s initial spree of “wave of drunken nights” post-breakup, he found himself confined to barracks due to his duties as an army officer.

He soon began his efforts to win her back, which ultimately succeeded at a ‘Freakin Naughty’ fancy dress party they were both invited to by a mutual friend. Kate attended dressed as a nurse, which certainly seemed to reignite the spark for her ex-beau.
