Child dies after falling in poor health at a trampoline centre

A child has died after falling ill at a trampoline centre.

The youngster was rushed to hospital from the Flip Out venue in Rutherglen, near Glasgow, this morning – but medics at the Royal Hospital for Children were unable to save them. 

Police are treating their death as unexplained though there are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances, while the Health and Safety Executive has been informed.

The trampoline centre posted on social media: ‘Flip Out Glasgow is closed today.

‘We apologise for any inconvenience this has caused. If you have pre-booked to visit today, please email [email protected] with your booking details and we will refund your booking or move your booking to another day.

‘Please keep an eye on our social media where we post updates on when we will be reopening.’

Police Scotland said in a statement: ‘Inquiries are ongoing after a child took unwell at a premises in Southcroft Road, Rutherglen, shortly before 11:00 on Sunday, 18 August 2024.

‘The child’s death is being treated as unexplained, although there are not thought be any suspicious circumstances, and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal. The Health and Safety Executive has also been notified.’
