Young girl stabbed to dying ‘after a struggle in a West Sussex automotive park’

A young woman was fatally stabbed after reports of a fight with a man in a station car park in West Sussex, in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Police have now arrested a 26-year-old man from Crawley on suspicion of murder, who remains in custody. 

Officers were called to Station Way at around 7.10am after an ‘altercation’, Metro reports.

After searching the are close to Crawley Station, officers found the victim, who had been stabbed multiple times.

Paramedics treated the woman at the scene, but sadly she was declared dead a short while later.

Officers arrested the man on Stephenson Road, about a mile away from Station Way.

Superintendent Rachel Swinney said police are not hunting for any other individuals.

She said: ‘This is a tragic incident that has seen a young woman lose her life, and we are working hard to understand exactly what has happened.

Police confirmed they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident, following the arrest of the 26-year-old man

‘Officers were able to swiftly bring a suspect into custody and we are not currently searching for anyone else.

‘There will now be an increased police presence in what is a busy area of Crawley as we carry out our enquiries.

‘I would urge anyone with any concerns to please speak to an officer at the scene.’
