Trump, 78, makes astonishing assault on Kamala Harris’ look

Donald Trump claimed at a Pennsylvania rally that he’s ‘better looking’ than presidential rival Kamala Harris.

Trump, 78, began musing on Harris’ recent image on the cover of Time magazine, which he has previously compared to his wife Melania, at a rally on Saturday in Wilkes Barre.

This time, he commented on the picture’s resemblance to classic Hollywood icons Sophia Loren and Elizabeth Taylor and then took issue with a Wall Street Journal columnist remarking earlier this month on Harris’ beauty.

‘I am much better looking than her,’ Trump said, drawing laughs from the crowd. ‘I’m a better looking person than Kamala.’

One MAGA supporter saw humor in Trump’s comments, writing on social media: ‘Comedians all over the world will be studying this man’s brain for years. They work years to be funny and don’t get anywhere close to him’.

However, many others attacked the president for the riff on his and Harris’ looks, with one noting the previous comparison he made between Harris and Melania.

‘Trump literally said the picture of Kamala on Time magazine was so beautiful that she reminded him of Melania. Now Trump’s saying he’s better looking than his wife?’

Trump also took issue with the way his style is typically portrayed in news reports at the Pennsylvania speech.

‘They will say he´s rambling. I don´t ramble. I´m a really smart guy,’ he said.

Trump’s attacks have trended toward the personal recently, last week launching a barrage of jibes at Montana Senator Jon Tester’s weight during his rally in Tester’s home state.

‘I don’t speak badly about somebody’s physical disability,’ Trump said, possibly noting that Tester lost three fingers on one hand in a meat-grinder accident when he was nine.

‘But he’s got the biggest stomach I’ve ever seen,’ Trump added.

While attacking Tester’s weight, Trump rallied his supporters by slamming the senator on issues from the southern border to his voting record.

Trump’s comments on Harris’ looks seem to be sparked when the vice president was featured on the cover of Time Magazine despite continuing to refuse one-on-one interviews.

The magazine used an illustration of Harris with the headline ‘Her Time’ and Trump commented on how he felt she looked like a familiar face when talking to Musk during their conversation on X Spaces.

‘She looked very much like our great first lady, Melania,’ Trump told Musk, as they discussed the cover image of Monday’s issue.

Trump also appeared to mispronounce Kamala’s name, though this time, it sounded more like ‘Camilla’.

‘She didn’t look like Camilla but of course, she’s a beautiful woman, so we’ll leave it at that,’ Trump said of the cover.

Time’s new cover story on Harris features the phrase, ‘Her Moment,’ alongside a black-and-white illustration of the vice president.

Trump noted this, calling it a ‘free ride’ from the media and that the image presented her as if she was ‘the most beautiful actress ever to live’.

The magazine has caught some critique for putting out the story, for which Harris declined to be interviewed, amid Republican outrage that she hasn’t sat for a media interview since Biden quit the campaign, making way for her.

Trump’s Saturday rally was his fifth at the arena in Wilkes-Barre, the largest city in Luzerne County, where he has had victories in the past two elections.

Biden bested Trump in neighboring Lackawanna County, where the Democrat has long promoted his working-class roots in Scranton.

On Sunday, Harris plans a bus tour starting in Pittsburgh, with a stop in Rochester, a small town to the north.

Trump has scheduled a visit Monday to a plant that manufactures nuclear fuel containers in York.

The former president’s running mate JD Vance is expected to be in Philadelphia that day.

His remarks Saturday came as Democrats prepare for their four-day national convention that kicks off Monday in Chicago and will mark the party’s welcoming of Harris as their nominee.

Her replacement of Biden less than four months before the November election has reinvigorated Democrats and their coalition. It has also presented a new challenge for Trump.
