Bloke scoops lottery win and it is all due to his beloved lifeless German Shepherd
An Ohio man couldn’t believe his luck when he won $50,000 (£38k) in the Pick 5 lotto using his late German shepherd’s licence tag numbers.
Roger Sours from Tiffin told Ohio Lottery officials he bought a ticket at the Pit Stop on N Washington Street for Wednesday’s drawing, and played the numbers 1-0-8-2-2.
“I play two sets of numbers for Pick 5 and this number, the number that hit was actually my licence number for my German shepherd that I played. She’s no longer with us anymore,” said Sours.

There’s lots of quality news coming out of the US.
The moment he saw the winning numbers on TV, Sours was stunned. “I just sat here. I watch the lottery when I can, when it’s on TV and I just sat here. It was like, I froze. I just couldn’t believe that it hit,” he said.
With his winnings, Sours is looking to pay off debts and boost his savings. Meanwhile, another Ohioan is celebrating financial freedom after scooping up the Powerball jackpot on July 4.
The Powerball website confirmed a ticket from Ohio clinched the $139.3million prize in Wednesday’s draw by matching all six balls, with the winner also having the option to take a $66.5million lump sum cash payout, reports the Mirror US.
The winning ticket for the jackpot was bought at the Huber Heights Walmart Supercenter, as revealed by the Ohio Lottery on Friday. The Powerball jackpot has been claimed five times in 2024; the most recent winner being a New Jersey lottery player who pocketed a cool $222.6million prize on June 10.
On the other side of things, it doesn’t always go to plan with dreams of unlucky lottery winners often dashed.
In 2021 Rachel Kennedy, then a business student at Brighton University, had her world turned upside down when she matched all seven EuroMillions numbers in February 2021. Tragically for Rachel and her beau Liam McCrohan, the ticket purchase didn’t go through because her bank account was short of the £2.50 needed. She missed out on £182million as a result
