Jermaine Jenas ‘sacked by BBC’ and brought off MOTD over ‘inappropriate behaviour’
TV host and former pro footballer Jermaine Jenas has been ‘sacked’ by the BBC.
The BBC has launched an immediate internal investigation after claims of the star’s ‘inappropriate behaviour’ were raised.
Since then, he has quietly been removed from the BBC’s official channels. A source told The Sun: “This is a categorical nightmare for the BBC.
“A complaint was raised concerning Jermaine’s behaviour. After some immediate routine enquiries the decision was taken to take him off air, and terminate his contract.
“The BBC’s new Director of Sport Alex Kay-Jelski has been heavily involved in this whole process, and is adamant that his new house is firmly in order, and there are no skeletons. “At present, the feeling is he won’t be back on the BBC.”
A giant mural featuring Jermaine, 41, and his BBC Sport colleagues Gary Lineker, Alan Shearer and Alex Scott, has since been removed from Media City HQ in Manchester.
Before this, he was guessed to be Linkekar’s natural successor at Match of the Day. In an interview from October 2021, Jermaine said he’d love to be named as the new host in the future.
He told The sun: “Match Of The Day is the biggest job on television, and if I ever got the opportunity of course I’d say yes. When Gary decides to call it a day, I’m sure the BBC will have a look around and decide who’s the best fit for the job.”
The following month, Gary added: “Jermaine is my natural successor, I think he’s doing well.” The married father of four was also one of the main presenters on The One Show alongside Alex Jones.
The former England player is yet to comment publicly. He was recently seen enjoying a family holiday to Marbella with his wife, Ellie, whom he married in 2011, and their children.
