Diving teacher caught on GoPro ‘masturbating’ above scholar beneath water
A man has been arrested after being filmed allegedly masturbating while diving with a female tourist.
The diving instructor in Maragogi, in Alagoas, Brazil, was arrested for suspected sexual harassment seven years after the incident was filmed accidentally by the tourist’s friend, a flight attendant who was on holiday at the time.
In the footage, the instructor appears to have his shorts halfway down and is “performing obscene acts” according to local reports.

The woman from Rio only realised what had happened later when the images were transferred to a computer. She told Globo she and friend had become interested in diving and went on a special trip which they captured with a GoPro waterproof camera.
“He came down with a GoPro camera and was filming the dive,” the woman said. “When we separated, he quickly turned the camera towards me, to record my dive and keep it as a souvenir. It was at that moment that he noticed a strange movement. But as we were very worried about [the] cylinder, mask and breathing properly, we didn’t realise what was really happening.”
The victim also said there were fears during the dive about being taken too close to the coral and that “it seemed like we were going to hit the rocks” because the man was allegedly “so focused on what he was doing that he lost focus on the dive”.
The woman also brought a civil case against a hotel, arguing they needed to be held responsible for their link with the guide.
Luci Mônica, head of the Tourist Protection Police Station, said: “It is important that people remain alert to any movement that they consider suspicious and report it so that it does not happen to other victims. We are attentive to cases like this.”
