Exact date subsequent UK heatwave to hit with 32C scorcher after Bank Holiday washout

Forecasters predict Brits face a heatwave with temperatures rising over 30C despite stormy weather from Storm Lilian threatening to ruin the Bank Holiday weekend.

Pressure is due to rise across the UK and Ireland with the mercury rising along with it. Meteorologists say Brits can expect to see temperatures soar to the early 30s from Tuesday.

Maps from Exacta Weather have shown high-temperature pressures passing over the whole country with particular emphasis on the East. They also predict that temperatures will stay above 20C overnight next week.

Exacta say that southern areas will jump back to the low 20s on Monday (August 26).

After that, we are due to reach the early 30s on Tuesday and stay there for the majority of the week. The North can expect mid to high 20s and a show of late summer sunshine.

In the middle of the week, however, low pressure is expected to briefly cover the far north of England and Scotland, leaving them with autumnal-style temperatures. This could also cover some of the Midlands, making their temperatures drop.

The warm weather is due to stick for a couple of weeks, according to sources. High pressure will move the stormy weather away for the rest of August and into September.

Exacta wrote: “Initially, more southern areas will see temperatures jumping back into the low to mid 20s in the best of the sunshine over the coming days, before temperatures really ramp up from around Tuesday into the high 20s in places at the very least, and even 30°C–32°C or more is likely in some spots during the middle of next week.

“Beyond next Thursday and for a prolonged period well into September (up to 2 weeks), we will then see high pressure really taking over to send this low pressure packing, and temperatures will soar further to some very hot to extreme values across large parts of the UK and, on this occasion, Ireland, for what is officially late summer (late August) and early autumn (early September).”

Advanced weather modelling maps also indicate that a spike in temperatures is coming around the middle of next week. WX Charts maps suggest Wednesday afternoon (August 28) will be the peak of this, with the mercury pushing close to 30C in eastern, central and southern regions.

The Met Office also warned that “very warm” or “hot” weather is on the horizon.

Before the heatwave hits, Brits are warned to expect a wet Bank Holiday weekend with Storm Lillian battering the north of England. Bookies Coral have also slashed their odds in anticipation of August bank holiday being the hottest on record.

The odds were originally at 2-1, but have been changed to 4-5 following a huge downpour. “It has been a wet start to the weekend, and with more rain forecast for the next couple of days, we have slashed the odds on this ending as the wettest August bank holiday weekend on record,” said Coral’s John Hill.
