60 Minute Makeover put Mrs Hinch to shame with its epic property transformations in the 2000s. 

It saw an unknowing homeowners nominated by a friend to have their humble abodes completely transformed in just 60 minutes. 

The hour-long ITV show inspired thousands of homes across the country to get creative and upscale their standard IKEA cupboards into pieces with a bit more flare. 

But, despite its incredibly popular viewership, the whole show was reportedly founded on some big tricks, according to builder extraordinaire Craig Phillips, who rose to fame winning the first ever series of Big Brother.

Craig was part of the show’s jaw-dropping remodelling projects and revealed how the team would turn off all appliances and unscrew all furniture before the cameras rolled into the property.

Craig, 51, told The Daily Star: ‘For example, for a kitchen, we are ripping out a kitchen and we’re ripping it out on camera, they only need to use 20 or 30 seconds of that kitchen being dismantled.

‘So off camera, we will go in, we will isolate all the boarded stuff, the electric, the gas, the water underneath disconnect it, put caps on everything- making sure it’s all safe.

‘The kitchen tops, we would have loosened all the plugs and undone all the legs.’

The former reality star added that ‘on camera when they blow the whistle and we start and we go in and look like we’re Superman’.

He explained the transformation is shot in two 30 minute segments and before each one are vital preparations that allow the team to achieve their targets in the alloted time.

The ITV production first aired in 2004 and saw huge success for a decade before it showed its last episode in 2014.

In total the show saw 12 series and 639 episodes which aired from Australia to the United States

Claire Sweeney, Terri Dwyer, Linda Barker, Catherine Gee and Peter Andre all had their shot at presenting the show over the years.

In 2018 Quest Red rebooted the series after a four-year break with Peter returning as host before it was axed a month later. 

For the reboot, the show updated the titled to Pete Andre’s 60 Minute Makeover. 

In total the show saw 12 series and 639 episodes which aired from Australia to the United States.
