Shoppers stepped in after thugs threatened girl in Asda automobile park

A group of ‘good Samaritan’ shoppers have been praised after fending off masked thugs attempting to steal a woman’s car in an Asda car park.

The shameless gang targeted a lone woman who was getting into her car after grabbing groceries from an Asda superstore in Great Barr, Birmingham just after 7pm on Monday, August 19.

The two masked men threatened her with a weapon ‘in front of everyone’ in a brutal attempt to get her keys, before an onlooker tried to stop the carjacking.

The brave man flung himself at the thugs who assaulted him before they fled the scene in the woman’s car.

A video of the terrifying incident was shared by an anonymous poster in Facebook community group ‘B44 Neighbourhood Alerts’.

A woman could be heard in the background of the clip shouting ‘smile’ as she ran alongside the stolen car and filmed the masked man inside.

‘Luckily I ran at them when I heard her screaming and caught these before he got scared off by us and ran out the car back to his mate on a bike further up the car park.

‘They were carrying screwdrivers [and] swung at a man and knocked him down first though. Absolute thugs.’
