Soham killer Ian Huntley’s chilling letter to daughter after her determined plea
The daughter of Ian Huntley was left a haunting letter from her father.
Samantha Bryan, now 26, hoped she would be able to visit her father in prison to learn the truth of why he committed his horrific crime. He committed the horrific Soham murders of Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman in 2002,
Her father refused, but wrote to her to explain why.
Samantha found out the vile murderer was her father when she was a teenager. She asked for a face-to-face meeting in prison with the parent she’s never met, 20 years after he was sent down for the Soham murders that rocked the nation.

Huntley was a caretaker in East Cambridgeshire when he abducted and murdered the 10-year-old girls. Samantha emphasised she needed “to known the truth,” about her father.
“If my existence means anything to you, I’m pleading with you to finally reveal the whole truth about the murders of Holly and Jessica,” she said in a powerful letter to him, The Sun revealed. “It’s time that everyone was given some peace.”
While Huntley refused the meeting, he did respond to her in a letter. “Given the probable length of my future and your current motives I doubt there will be enough time for a significant shift in circumstances in order for us to ever meet,” he wrote.
Samantha then revealed to the Sun she was disgusted by her father’s actions and response. “He’s shown he’s a pitiful, twisted, manipulative coward.
“There’s so many other things I could call him. I feel contempt. His letter has left me with even more questions than I had before.
“He might be ill but I don’t know for sure given he’s written about the probable length of his future. I don’t know what that means.”
Samantha added that she will never forgive her father and had never intended to, but wanted to reveal the truth. Huntley initially said that both girls died accidentally.
He said Holly drowned in the bath and he suffocated Jess without meaning to as he tried to stifle her screams. Huntley confessed in 2018 that he deliberately killed Jessica to stop her raising the alarm about Holly’s death.
Samantha reached out after she learned he was suffering health issues in prison and that he has been subjected to violent attacks. She wanted the truth before it was too late.
“So in one sense, a part of me is relieved. A part of me is angry. A part of me is sad that he’s not going to give answers. A part of me still needs answers. I have to reconcile that is not going to happen. That’s hard.”
