All the indicators Oasis had been set to reunite

Oasis fuelled speculation over the weekend that they might reunite for a long-awaited comeback, despite brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher‘s well documented estrangement.

Fans have been going wild over new reports that the pair will bury the hatchet for the Glastonbury headline slot next summer as well as 10 gigs at Wembley in 2025.

And on Sunday night, Liam added more fuel to the rumours as he performed at Reading Festival where he dedicated the Oasis track Half The World Away to his estranged brother Noel and performed lots of Oasis tracks.

As he closed the set, Liam suggested an announcement could be made on Tuesday at 8:00am.

A short clip of a sign in the style of Oasis logo was projected on a large screen above the stage and subsequently shared to Oasis, Noel and Liam’s official Instagram and X accounts.

Fans have since been going wild joking that they would sell their house if it meant they could get Oasis tickets for next year.

So as an Oasis reunion seems more likely than ever MailOnline takes a look at all the signs they were going to announce a reunion:

Brothers grow close after Noel’s £20million divorce

In recent years, Liam has been keen to make amends with his brother and reform the iconic Britpop band, but his older brother poured cold water on the idea.

But after Noel’s £20m divorce from ex-wife Sara MacDonald last year, the elder Gallagher is said to have been persuaded of the financial merits of getting the band together for dates at Glastonbury and Wembley Stadium.

The divorce also reportedly helped end Liam and Noel’s bitter years-long feud.

Last December sources who know the siblings said that the split had an ‘instant impact’ on relations between Liam and Noel, who are now ‘closer than they have been for years’.

Noel agreed a divorce settlement with publicist MacDonald last year, ending a 22-year marriage that contributed to a vicious and often public rift with Liam.

Friends say that Liam clashed repeatedly with MacDonald throughout her relationship with his brother.

A source said: ‘Liam did not have the best relationship with Sara. There were many reasons for the bitter feud that erupted between Noel and Liam after Oasis split up.

‘It was never going to be easy for any woman caught up in the middle of this spat to have to deal with Liam. But Sara and Liam both blamed one another, often for things that were sparked by factors outside.

‘It [the divorce] made Liam and Noel confront some of the issues that they were constantly clashing over, rather than blaming somebody else. The pair of them are now closer than they have been for years. I wouldn’t rule out some kind of announcement that Liam and Noel are ready to perform together again after that. There is already loose talk about a possible Oasis stadium tour in 2025.’

MacDonald met Noel in Ibiza in 2000 ahead of his divorce from first wife Meg Mathews a year later. Oasis split up in 2009 with relations between MacDonald and Liam soon deteriorating.

Noel, who had two sons – Donovan, 16, and Sonny, 13 – with MacDonald, once insisted he would never reconcile with Liam because of his verbal attacks on his now ex-wife.

Money

Professor Jonathan Shalit OBE, chairman of talent agency InterTalent, told The Sun they could make more than £400million from the tour and any residual deals.

He said: ‘With tickets, sponsorship, merchandise and filming, I would predict an income for Noel and Liam of over £50million each. This is a tour that could easily gross over £400million.’

Oasis has been promised a payday of £50 million to reform and embark on a global tour, with Liam appearing to confirm the reunion.

The eye-watering sum is said to have convinced warring brothers Noel, 57, and Liam to bury the hatchet 15 years after they last appeared on stage together.

Their fractious relationship came to a head in 2009, after a backstage fight in Paris led to Noel leaving the band.

New material released

Oasis marked the 30th anniversary of Definitely Maybe earlier this month with the released of a rare alternative version of Sad Song by Liam – which some fans took as a sign of more to come.

The band’s debut studio album was released August 29 1994 and featured brothers Liam and Noel, Paul ‘Bonehead’ Arthurs, Paul ‘Guigsy’ McGuigan, and Tony McCarroll.

New reissue, Sad Song (Mauldeth Road West Demo, Nov ’92), sees Liam on vocals whereas the original was recorded by Noel and made available only as a bonus track on the LP.

The Limited Edition of Definitely Maybe will be released August 30 and includes tracks from the original recording session at Monnow Valley Studios as well as outtakes from the definitive album sessions at Sawmills Studios in Cornwall.

Newly mixed by Noel, it follows recently released songs Columbia (Sawmills Outtake) and Up In The Sky (Monnow Valley Version).

Fans can also dive into new sleeve notes from Creation Records boss Alan McGee – who discovered the Britpop legends and offered to sign them then and there – and journalist Hamish MacBain.

The Definitely Maybe (30th Anniversary Deluxe Edition) album is available to pre-order now on Limited-Edition Deluxe 4LP and Deluxe 2CD formats plus exclusive coloured vinyl – Up In The Sky lyric inspired blue and white marble 2LP, and Digsy’s Dinner lyric inspired pink and white marble 2LP.

It will also be available on Limited-Edition blue cassette and digital formats. All formats include the 2014 remastered version of the album.

When first released in 1994, Definitely Maybe reached number one on the Official UK Album Charts and became the fastest selling debut album of all time, at the time.

Their mother Peggy’s wishes for feud to end

Last year Liam was reportedly told told to mend his rift with his estranged brother Noel so their mother Peggy could enjoy her 80th birthday with her sons.

Liam took his mother on a spa break ahead of her birthday and Peggy was said to have told Liam to try and get on with Noel once again.

The brothers have been embroiled in a very public feud ever since Oasis split at their final concert in Paris in 2009 after a backstage bust-up.

An insider told The Sun at the time: ‘In recent years there has been distance within the family, especially with Liam and Noel at war.

‘Peggy has told Liam to mend the rift and she is hoping there will be genuine reconciliation.

‘Peggy was in a reflective mood and it would be the best birthday present if they’d finally make some steps towards patching up their feud.’

Liam took his mother to the five-star Cliveden House in Berkshire to enjoy a break ahead of her birthday.

He was there with his fiancée Debbie Gwyther and his three children Molly, 24, Lennon, 23, and Gene, 21, as well as his older brother Paul.

Cryptic post

In May this year Oasis fans were sent into a frenzy and were left questioning whether they were ‘getting back together’ after the band shared a cryptic post to their social media.

The Manchester group sensationally split in 2009 after a backstage bust-up between the warring brothers.

In the 14 years that have followed, the pair have traded bitter insults back and forth in interviews and over social media, with a reunion looking very unlikely.

However, fans were hopeful that the comeback the nation has been waiting years for could finally be on the cards, following the mysterious post.

The band’s official social media accounts posted a sixteen-second long clip that begins as a black screen and slowly fades into a bird’s eye view of what looks like a house next to a river, with some muted music in the background.

Their Instagram page, which still boats 1.8 million followers, and their X (formerly Twitter) page, which is also followed by one million, regularly post about anniversaries of song releases and memories of the group.

However, this captionless post was bizarrely cryptic and eager music lovers had been trying to decipher what it meant.

Excited fans penned: ‘They’re back together?!’

‘Please tell me it’s happening’.

‘Stop playing with our feelings’.

‘Don’t do that. Don’t give me hope’.

‘What does this MEAN?’

‘Come on, don’t play with my feelings’.

Some fans guessed that the strange post could be hinting towards an anniversary tour, a reissue of old songs, or a rare demos session release.

Someone predicted: ‘What’s The Story Morning Glory 30th anniversary tour happening 2025’.

Glastonbury is teased

In February this year Liam was branded a ‘wind-up’ after he appeared to confirm he will play Glastonbury with John Squire.

The former Oasis frontman and the ex-Stone Roses guitarist release their self-titled joint album on March 1, and the Britpop legend sparked speculation he could be set to rock Worthy Farm with the fellow Mancunian rocker in June.

A fan asked him on X/Twitter: ‘Will we see you and Squire at Glastonbury this summer LG?’

And Liam replied: ‘Yeah.’

The 51-year-old singer, who last played Glastonbury as a solo artist in 2019, didn’t say whether it would be this year’s event.

However, a source close to Liam, who loves to joke around with his followers, then told The Independent: ‘[Liam’s] NOT playing Glastonbury… or the BRITs for that matter.’

Fans go wild

Fans have been getting very over excited about the prospect of a possible reunion taking to X to say they’d even sell their houses to be able to go to the tour.

They penned: ‘can’t wait for the oasis reunion’,

‘no joke, oasis getting back together would be one of the most culturally significant events in British history.’,

‘ITS HAPPENING!!! Oasis are back!!! @TheRockRevival_’,

‘Oasis reunion will be up there with the birth of my child.’,
