Arne Slot savages Jamie Carragher with brutal remark after first Anfield win

Arne Slot savaged Jamie Carragher with a cheeky comment after he passed his first Anfield test with flying colours.

Slot, 45, was welcomed to Anfield on Sunday (25 August) as Liverpool breezed past Brentford. And after the game, Carragher was offering his thoughts on the clash, when Slot arrived at the Sky Sports podium.

“I’m talking to you and you’re not even looking at me,” Carragher joked as Slot walked up to greet his fellow Sky Sports pundits and host Kelly Cates. Slot then quipped: “Does anyone ever listen to him?”

The comment was met by an outburst of laughter, as Carragher sighed: “That’s the clip, that’s the meme!” He then shared the clip on social media, captioning it: “Arne Slot just putting me away on his Anfield debut!”

“Slot carries himself so well. Just a proper normal guy,” one fan responded. While a second added: “He’s done Pearce and Carragher in a week Slot might be unmatched!”

Slot was then asked on his take on the Red’s performance: “Our defensive performance today was really good. The only two chances we conceded were from set-pieces, but we controlled their counter-attacks, we controlled them in their build-up, and we created many good chances.”

“Ideally you would see the same in the first half as the second half, but I think we positioned ourselves quite well everywhere around the pitch,” Slot added.

“In the first half there was more energy in the other team, but if you keep on persisting in what you do, and the execution becomes better and I think in the second half, the positioning was a bit better as well, then it eventually leads to gaps that open up.

“In the end you could see that Brentford didn’t have the legs to defend us.”
