Channing Tatum admits shopping for T-shirts for a YEAR to keep away from laundry

Channing Tatum spent a year of his life buying new white T-shirts constantly in order to avoid doing laundry, he has revealed.

Before he became a movie star, he famously worked as a stripper in Florida for eight months, providing inspiration for his later turn in the Magic Mike movies.

He took the job shortly after he turned 18 in 1998, and footage has surfaced of him dancing at a club called Male Encounter in 1999 under the name Chan Crawford.

Now Channing, 44, has revealed that he thinks of ”99 or 2000′ as ‘the year of the fresh white tee’ because he refused to wash his shirts and bought new ones instead.

‘I hate doing laundry. Like, I hate it more than I can possibly say,’ the 21 Jump Street actor divulged in a new interview with GQ.

He shared his specific preferences for white T-shirts – the ‘plain’ version released by Hanes, or the ‘ribbed’ white tank top, ‘not the weird, sort of fitted ones.’

Channing shared that his dread of doing laundry drove him to live through ‘one year that I call the year of the fresh white tee, and I don’t think I did laundry all year that year and I just wore white T-shirts that I just bought.’

He burst into laughter at the memory of his youthful purchases, saying: ‘I would be like: “I can get like two wears out of this a week.” This is gonna be good. The year of the fresh white tee, ’99 or 2000. It was a beautiful year.’

Channing shares his daughter Everly, 10, with his ex-wife Jenna Dewan, whom he met while they were working on their 2006 dance-themed movie Step Up.

Jenna is now demanding a cut of Channing’s Magic Mike millions, arguing that the idea for the lucrative film franchise was developed during their marriage.

Channing has revealed that he will eventually tell Everly the truth about his past as a stripper once she reaches the appropriate age to watch the Magic Mike films.

‘When she’s old enough to watch them, we’ll have that conversation,’ he confessed to Entertainment Tonight last year.

‘There’s no version of me not having the conversation of: “Dad didn’t just do them in movies, I was an actual stripper,” so I’m not gonna lie to her.’

Now Channing is engaged to Lenny Kravitz and Lisa Bonet’s daughter Zoe Kravitz, who directed him in the upcoming movie Blink Twice, previously titled P***y Island.

Zoe and Channing were together for two years before getting engaged, cultivating their romance while they were working on Blink Twice.

Channing plays a predatory tech tycoon, with Naomi Ackie as the cocktail waitress he spirits off to the private island that he keeps as a den of iniquity.

In a far cry from his character, Channing turned out to be a reliable figure of support for Zoe as she directed a feature film for the first time.

‘Whether it was making me tea or pouring me a drink or going to whip someone into shape or whatever – he really was my protector and it was really wonderful and sweet,,’ she told GQ. ‘I think if you can do something like that together, it’s a good test. And we came out even stronger.’

She waxed rhapsodic about Channing’s qualities, hailing him as a ‘wonderful human. He makes me laugh and we both really love art and talking about art and the exploration of why we do what we do. We love to watch a film and break it down and talk about it and challenge each other.’
