Boy, 3, dies at Chris Evans’ family-friendly competition after tragic incident
A three-year-old boy has died at Chris Evans’ CarFest.
The radio DJ’s event of live music, cars and food demonstrations last weekend ended in tragedy for a family whose son suffered a “medical episode.”
An air ambulance was called to CarFest in Overton, Hants, on Saturday just after 11pm to rush the boy to hospital where medics fought to save his life.

Hampshire Constabulary confirmed they are treating the death as “unexpected.”
A Hampshire police spokesperson said: “Shortly after 11pm on Saturday, August 24, officers were made aware of a medical episode involving a three-year-old boy at CarFest, Overton. The child was taken to hospital, but sadly passed away a short time later. The death is being treated as unexpected and a file is being prepared for the coroner.”
A spokesperson for CarFest, which is a family-friendly event set up by radio DJ Chris Evans to raise money for children’s charities, said: “There was a medical incident on the festival site on Saturday, August 24. The incident was attended to by the onsite medical and security teams supported by the NHS. The patient was taken offsite to hospital.”
The event, which takes place from Friday, August 23 to Sunday, August 25, raises money for a number of children’s charities including BBC Children in Need and the Teenage Cancer Trust. This year’s event featured performances by Scouting For Girls and Sam Ryder and there is live music, cars, and the opportunity to meet TV hosts and get involved with food demonstrations.
