Prince Harry ‘sneaked’ again to UK for reunion with William at household funeral
Prince William and Prince Harry, essentially ‘brothers at war’, were brought together for a family event as they attended their uncle’s funeral recently.
Earlier this week, the Duke of Sussex made a discreet return to the UK for the service of Lord Robert Fellowes. Married to the late Princess Diana’s sister, Lady Jane, Lord Fellowes was an esteemed figure in Royal circles and passed away last month at the age of 82.
Held in Norfolk on Wednesday, the funeral saw the participation of both William and Harry, who reportedly have not exchanged words since their grandmother Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in 2022. Insiders claim they were “discreet” during the somber proceedings, with a source informing The Sun of their subdued interactions.

Another funeral-goer commented: “We never saw them speak to each other and they kept their distance.”
Jennie Bond, the former BBC Royal correspondent, speculated an “awkward” encounter could arise from Harry’s attendance, given last month’s tensions. She optimistically mused: “I imagine Harry will want to be at his uncle’s funeral… but his presence would cause all sorts of awkwardness if William attends too. It would be nice to think, though, two grown-up men could at least be in the same space… as they were at the Coronation, albeit briefly… without ruining an occasion of great sadness and solemnity.”
Lord Fellowes, who tied the knot with Princess Diana’s elder sister Lady Jane on April 20, 1978, enjoyed over four decades of married bliss before his passing. The couple had a brood of three – Laura, Alexander, and Eleanor – all part of the Royal bloodline as cousins to Princes William and Harry.
Laura also Extended her Royal touch as godmother to Princess Charlotte, the sweet daughter of Wills and Kate.
During the tumultuous ’90s, Lord Fellowes served as the late Queen’s private secretary; those were the days when Prince Charles and Diana’s marriage crumbled, Fergie and Andrew called it quits, and fire raged through Windsor Castle, leaving 115 rooms charred in 1992. It was also a time marked by sorrow when his sister-in-law, Diana, met a tragic end in that Paris accident at just 36-years-old.
Lord Fellowes had his share of ups and downs with Diana, owing to his courtier role. However, upon her untimely demise, he expressed deep affection, saying: “I was deeply fond of her. She was a very good person. She found it difficult in life to find happiness, and I’m sad for people who have that situation.”
After his death, Lord Fellowes’ legacy continues through Laura, Alexander and Eleanor.
