Sancho will get stick off Man Utd followers as new Chelsea star posts 19-word farewell
Chelsea‘s latest recruit Jadon Sancho has been slammed after offering just 19 words in his goodbye to Manchester United.
Sancho, who has spent three seasons with the Red Devils, bid adieu to Old Trafford for a second stint this year, securing a last-gasp loan move to Stamford Bridge rivals Chelsea on a frantic Friday (August 30) deadline day.
Snapping up the Londoner, Chelsea have agreed to a mandatory purchase clause in Sancho’s contract, set to dish out between £20m-25million – a stark drop from the hefty £73m United shelled out back in 2021 to sign him from Borussia Dortmund.

However, if Enzo Maresca’s side don’t make it in the top 14 of the Premier League table, the obligation to buy is voided, reports The Telegraph. Despite his rocky ride in Manchester, the English winger made sure to express his gratitude towards the fandom, squad, and staff following the green light on his switch to Chelsea.
However, the United faithful weren’t pleased by Sancho’s notably brief adieu, particularly when stacked against his heartfelt parting words penned for Dortmund following his six-month loan spell. Angst and frustration aired on X ( formerly known as Twitter), where Sancho’s parting shot was scrutinised as he wrote: “Thank you to all the fans, staff and teammates [at Manchester United]. Wishing everyone all the best in the future,” reports the Mirror.
In stark contrast to his low-key United send-off, his Dortmund goodbye spanned a gushing six paragraphs, lavishly thanking ex-manager Edin Terzic, sporting director Sebastian Kehl, and CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke for bringing him back to the football club.
Hundreds of fans took to social media to express their rage, with one fuming supporter blasting: “Let the hate watch begin. Its obvious he doesn’t like us, and we have to return the energy 1,000,000 times,” while another joined in the tirade with: “Good Riddance. Never wish to have a similar one near our squad ever again.”
A third supporter threw shade at Sancho and suggested fans shouldn’t’ have supported him over Erik ten Hag following their falling out, venting: “People actually back this guy over the manager who finished 3rd in his first season and took us to 3 Finals in 2 years and won 2 of them.”
Sancho finds himself amidst an impressive arsenal of attackers at Stamford Bridge where he will now slog it out against the likes of Noni Madueke, Mykhailo Mudryk, Christopher Nkunku, Pedro Neto, and Joao Felix.

The England international racked up a modest tally of 12 goals and chalked up six assists in 83 outings for United over three seasons.
His new team’s clash against Crystal Palace on Sunday (September 1) afternoon, meanwhile, has come too soon for him with Sancho set to take no part due to paperwork not being completed before the 12pm cut-off. The 24-year-old will have to bide his time until Chelsea’s clash with Bournemouth come September 14 to make his debut.
