Inside lady’s World Cup-inspired yard boozer full with Guinness on faucet

Bespoke bars, a space to watch the football and even a makeshift kitchen are all included in the features of Britain’s best sheds.

Artist and school technician Wayne Dawber topped the rankings for this year’s Cuprinol Shed of the Year competition with his “Wrinkly, Rusty and Retro” creation. Wayne’s shed comes with hand-painted vintage signs inspired by 1950s magazine adverts.

Wayne won £1,000 in cash and £250 worth of Cuprinol product as he beat 160 other entries to claim top spot, earning the praise of a judging panel. A public vote also put Wayne top of the ‘Unexpected/Unique’ category.

The plan for the shed has always been for it to be a little hideaway for my wife and me,” Wayne said, explaining he liked to use unusual and disregarded materials, such as corrugated metal. “We love spending time in nature and watching the world go by from our garden – this shed gave us the perfect space to do that.”

The amazing competition brought together all kinds of new and interesting ideas. We have some of the best of each category featured here.
