‘Alien Bigfoot on Mars’ sparks years-long on-line debate as individuals say two issues
A NASA photo released to the public in 2008 showed what appeared to be a “contemplative alien Bigfoot” sitting on top of a rock on the planet Mars.
The weird and wonderful crossover of sasquatch and space had many conspiracy theorists salivating. The now-famous picture was captured by a panorama from the NASA Mars Exploration Rover Spirit in late 2007, appearing to show a hairy figure on the Eastern Ridge of Mars.
‘Bigfoot’ looks almost philosophical as it stares out into space, perhaps theorising how on Earth they could have ended up on the extraterrestrial wasteland.

There’s lots of quality news coming out of the US.
Once it was shared online in early 2008, forums and blogs were awash with fringe thinkers with one word on their lips: “alien”. According to the BBC, the image was posted online first by a Japanese blogger going “viral” in the early days of the internet.
‘Bigfoot on Mars’ still occasionally does the rounds on Reddit threads from time to time, always seeming to split opinion in regards to the validity and/or supposed proof that it’s a picture of a ‘hairy’ alien.
“Ah the lesser spotted rock and shadow,” someone theorised.
Someone else entertained the idea it might be a space-dwelling Sasquatch, before admitting it could more likely be a “rock, that our pattern recognising brains think that looks like a creature.”
“Poor dude escapes to another planet just to be like: ah s**t, here we go again!” another person wrote, while another commented on the melancholic vibe Bigfoot appears to be giving off: “That’s one lonely fella”.
More recently, investigators claimed they spotted the mystery beast Bigfoot sprinting in the background of a little-known nature documentary.
Spotters say the Bigfoot sighting is featured in the 2001 film “Great North,” in which director William Reeve and his crew explored the “high north of Quebec” near the Arctic Circle in Canada.
The obscured creature — which appears to be moving on two feet and upright like a gorilla — was filmed above a massive, running herd of caribou jumping into a local water source. The unidentified beast, which seems out of place in the area, moves in an opposite direction.
