Forecaster ‘heavy rain’ warning as band of cloud hampers ‘Indian summer time’ hopes

Forecasters have issued a grim ‘heavy rain‘ warning as an ominous band of cloud hampers ‘Indian summer’ hopes.

With temperatures pushing well into the 20s in the early part of September, many folk in the UK would’ve been forgiven for rubbing their hands and wheeling the barbecue back out. Sadly, it’s been a bit of a wash out ever since, with the next couple of days being no exception.

Today, September 7, the Met Office said that a band of cloud and patchy rain is edging northwards across England and Wales with a further band of heavy and thundery rain arriving across the far south later. Elsewhere it will be slightly cloudier, but still with lengthy sunny spells.

‌Tonight, heavy and thundery showers will continue to move northwards overnight across England and Wales.

It will be largely dry to the north, but it will turn increasing cloudy.

Tomorrow, there will be spells of heavy rain and thundery showers across many central and southern areas. And elsewhere largely dry, although cloudier and less warm than recent days.

Grahame Madge, a Met Office spokesman, said: “The outlook for tomorrow and into the weekend remains unsettled with further potentially very heavy rain to come.”

Exacta Weather says much warmer temperatures are due around September 18

However, all is not lost as Exacta Weather has said a second heatwave of the month could be on the cards around September 18.

It says the GFS (Global Forecast System) runs keeps intensifying the next spell of warm to hot temperatures (Indian summer weather).

An update from the forecasters earlier this week also stated: “Our OWN forecasts are now also in recognition of another major and moderate to high confidence pressure build from the south of the country to make up for this for in and around 18th September, POSSIBLY A LITTLE EARLIER, and this would have the potential to bring even hotter temperatures across our shores than the current warm to hot period.”
