Moment Scotland followers brawl as tempers flare throughout Poland conflict

This is the moment Scotland fans brawled at Hampden as tempers flared during their 3-2 defeat to Poland last night.

A video of the fight has been widely shared on social media showing two grown men wrestling in the stands while punches are thrown.

One of the men gets topless after his jumper is dragged over his head, while his assailant ends up on all fours on the stairway as shocked onlookers look on aghast.

The scrap is eventually broken up after stewards and fellow fans attempt to restore calm to the unedifying scenes.

The shocking display comes after the Tartan Army were widely praised for their good-natured support earlier this summer when they made headlines while abroad in Germany for the Euros, despite the brutal exit Scotland had at the tournament.

It is not clear what exactly triggered the bust-up although it is thought the ugly scenes were believed to have occurred at half time.

Scotland were trailing 2-0 at that point, with tempers likely to be running high as the national team’s poor run of form continues.

There was an attempt at a dramatic second half fightback, courtesy of goals from Billy Gilmour and Scott McTominay.

But all that hard work was undone in injury time when Grant Hanley lunged in on Nicola Zalewski – giving the Polish a penalty which Angus Gunn couldn’t keep out.

It’s been a tough summer for supporters of the Scotland national team, with fans stumping up huge sums to travel for Germany only to feel let down as Scotland exited the competition tamely.

It was a disappointing end to the tournament for Steve Clarke’s team, who finished bottom of Group A, having lost two games and drawn one.

Scottish football fans are no strangers to exiting a major tournament early. In 12 attempts, their nation has never once made it past the first stage of a World Cup or Euros.

A huge number of Scots had descended on Germany for the tournament, bringing a wave of colour and noise ahead of one of the biggest tournaments in their country’s history.

Dressed in tartan kilts and replica kits, fans drank with locals, sang football anthems and even put on a bagpipe concert as the celebrated they pre-match atmosphere.
