Ireland fans taunted England supporters with vile chants about the death of Queen Elizabeth before the Three Lions victory in Dublin

Footage of Irish football fans taunting England supporters with sickening chants about the late Queen Elizabeth has gone viral on social media.

Lee Carsley’s men won 2-0 against Ireland in Dublin on Saturday, September 7, win a promising start to the new interim manager’s reign.

However, Ireland supporters were less than pleased with the scoreboard, especially as former Ireland youth representatives Declan Rice and Jack Grealish scored the goals for England.

Despite only competing four times against each other this century, tensions have always remained high between the two countries.

And on the eve of the second anniversary of Queen Elizabeth’s death, tensions boiled over.

As the thousands of England fans who travelled across the water to watch the game poured into the Aviva stadium, a group of Ireland supporters stood in front of a pub to chant a song mocking the death of the Queen.

Pointing at the steam of passing Three Lion supporters who were chaperoned by a string of police, the yobs jeered “Lizzie’s in a box” repeatedly. England fans can be seen making hand gestures in response.

There have been no reports of hostilities growing physical were reported.

Since the footage was shared on X, the clip has been viewed over 300,000 times, with many people criticising the chant.

One person noted: “England fans not even taking any notice, that’s how irrelevant the paddy’s are.”

Another wrote: “I’m Irish. These lads are clowns. There’s decent Irish & There’s decent English. Surround yourself with good folk, doesn’t matter where you’re from.”

A third person quipped that the Ireland fans were “just showing how classy they really are”, while another person sarcastically said: “Really upsetting that is not sure how the England fans will recover.”

Another person said: “whatever gets spud farmers through the day.”

The late Queen died aged 96, after a 79-year reign over the UK.
