Shark devoured by huge sea monster in a single gulp leaves fishermen gobsmacked

Fishermen were left gobsmacked when a shark they were trying to catch got completely devoured by a massive fish in a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment.

In a jaw-dropping video, Captain John Brossard and his squad were busy fishing off Goodland’s coast in sunny Florida, US, trying to snag a shark. But things took a wild turn as they spotted three spooky dark figures of the beefy Atlantic Goliath groupersstalking their soon-to-be-snack.

Out of nowhere, one of the behemoth groupers charged from the depths, swallowing the shark whole in front of the awestruck crew.

The baffled captain watched as the hefty sea monster made away with its feast, snapping their line as a bonus.

“Basically we were shark fishing when all of a sudden two or three Goliath groupers started hanging out under the boat waiting for our catch to come in,” he recalled.

“We were just thinking ‘wow, unbelievable! Something is going to eat a shark and it’s bigger than a shark.’

“We were very surprised. Basically it ate the shark, and took down and broke the line.

“We were using a 50-pound test line and that was not enough.”

John estimated the mammoth grouper tipped the scales at a whopping 500lbs (35st), while the poor blacknose shark measured up to a mere three feet.

He said the dangerous waters they were trawling were packed with nature’s most notorious creatures.

“Where we were fishing is basically the Florida Everglades,” he explained.

“There are sharks, alligators, crocodiles, pythons, dolphins and manatees all in one place.

“It’s the only place in the world that has all these creatures in one place and everything there tries to eat everything else.

“Bull sharks have been seen getting eaten by crocodiles and alligators sometimes, and sharks also get eaten by bigger fish there.”

Locals have suggested that a monstrous squid or a colossal shark might be lurking in the ocean’s darkest depths.

This startling theory emerged after researchers sank three alligator corpses to the murky depths of 6,600ft in the Gulf of Mexico.

In a spine-tingling twist, one of the gator bodies was snatched and hauled across the seabed by an unseen leviathan.
