Ellie Goulding and Carrie Johnson get funky at Lord Bamford’s celebration

It was Britain’s most lavish golden wedding party.

Boris Johnson‘s wife, Carrie, 36, and pop star Ellie Goulding, 37, were among those to slip on a pair of flares for the 50th anniversary celebrations for JCB billionaire Lord (Anthony) Bamford and his wife, Carole, who created the Daylesford organic food empire.

Guests passed by the Tory donor’s collection of Ferraris and Porsches which were parked in the drive of the couple’s Daylesford estate in Gloucestershire.

Seven hundred guests including Sarah, Duchess of York, Princess Beatrice and her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, Lord (David) Cameron and his wife, Samantha, and Dame Joan Collins, enjoyed entertainment provided by Sir Van Morrison, disco legend Nile Rodgers and DJ Pete Tong.

The theme was 1974 – the year the Bamfords were married.

Lord Bamford, 78, recalled to guests that Carole had told him after romance blossomed: ‘I am in love with two men – you’re one of them, the other is Elvis.’ She was referring to the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll, then still alive.

Their younger son, George, told guests he returned home one evening to find his parents singing and dancing to I’m Too Sexy, by Right Said Fred.

Nigel Farage’s new employee should fit right in

Nigel Farage’s new recruit Caroline Edmondson, who will be running his Westminster office, should fit in with the convivial set around the Reform Party leader.

At a recent drinks party given by Commons Speaker Sir Lindsay Hoyle, Edmondson was on remarkably liquid form, pawing at certain male guests (including Mr Speaker) and slurring her words.

She announced that she had just been having drinks on the terrace with Farage. Maybe it was her job interview?

Harry ‘plans third foreign tour in a year’

Their recent visit to Colombia was criticised by local politicians for its cost to the country, but the Duke and Duchess of Sussex seem to have acquired a taste for foreign travel.

The couple are said to be planning to make a third ‘quasi-royal tour’ before the end of this year.

‘That’s his world; that’s what he’s used to,’ an ‘insider’ says of Prince Harry to Hello!.

The magazine suggests likely destinations are Lesotho and Botswana, where his charity Sentebale operates. Their first foreign trip was to Nigeria in May.

Cash boost for King’s Foundation

Despite a ‘cash for access’ scandal, King Charles’s charity has enjoyed an upturn in its fortunes.

The asset base for the King’s Foundation climbed to £141 million in the year to March, £4 million up on 2023. Income amounted to £26.1 million, a £3 million rise on the previous 12 months.

In spite of the ongoing probe into historic donations, the charity’s governance structure was given a clean bill of health by Scots charity regulators.

Graham Norton’s mother is his sternest critic

‘My mother watches the show on Friday and I speak to her on Saturdays,’ the presenter says.

‘A good review is, “I thought it was all right”. A bad review is, “How do YOU think it went?”

‘Is it any wonder I have grown up seeking the validation of strangers with that sort of parenting?’
