Kate Middleton receives wave of assist from celebrities

Kate Middleton has received a wave of support from celebrities after announcing that she has finished chemotherapy with a touching family video. 

The Princess of Wales took to social media on Monday to share her cancer update, after beginning ‘preventative treatment’ earlier in the year. 

Kate revealed that she plans to undertake a ‘light programme’ of public engagements over the coming months and warned that ‘doing what I can to stay cancer free is now my focus’.

Celebrities turned out in force to send their well-wishes to the royal, as they hailed her ‘inspirational’.

One such star was actress Olivia Munn, 44, who opened up about her own battle with the disease, having been diagnosed with breast cancer in 2023. 

‘It is so inspiring to hear you describe the surprising gifts that this diseases like this can bring. I sen you all the love in the world,’ Olivia commented on the Prince and Princess of Wales’s Instagram post. 

Amanda Holden also shared her admiration for Kate, as she commented: ‘I’m sobbing. This is beautiful.’

Meanwhile on X, formerly Twitter, news anchor Kari Lake said: ‘What a beautiful message and a wonderful update. 

‘We continue to pray for you and all who are battling cancer.’

Former US Treasury Secretary Monica Crowley added: ‘The best news! Sending prayers from America for your continued full recovery.’

Kelly Hoppen, a South African-British furniture designer, also said: My heart is full watching this wonderful film and knowing you’re now on the road to recovery side by side with your loving family, you are such an inspiration x.’  

Royal fans were also left ‘sobbing for joy’ as they send their support to Princess Kate following the announcement, as she admitted that the last nine months have been a ‘scary and unpredictable’ time for her family.

As well-wishers online have responded in their thousands to congratulate the mother-of-three and hope for a full recovery over the coming months. 

One user said: ‘Oh my gosh…I’m sobbing with joy. This video with Princess Catherine and family is deeply moving and filled with inspiration. God bless you.’

While another added: ‘Could cry with joy. Stay well.’

Another Royal fan wrote: ‘This is incredibly touching and beautiful. God bless and continue to bless this family. Heal the Princess completely.’  

The experience, Catherine says, has reminded her and her husband, Prince William, to ‘reflect and be grateful for the simple yet important things in life, which so many of us often take for granted. Of simply loving and being loved.’

The heartfelt message to the nation was accompanied by a stunning three-minute long video showing her and William in Norfolk with their three children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, shot last month.

Kate also ended her video with a deeply moving and emotional message to fellow cancer patients and their families, saying: ‘To all those who are continuing their own cancer journey – I remain with you, side by side, hand in hand. Out of darkness, can come light, so let that light shine bright.’ 

Her programme of engagements will be ‘light’ but is likely, as previously revealed by the Daily Mail, to including Remembrance Sunday at the Cenotaph and other events around it.

They are only likely to be announced last minute as they will depend as and when Her Royal Highness feels able to carry them out, with sources stressing repeatedly that every ‘cancer journey is different’. 

She will not accompany Prince William to his Earthshot Prize awards in Cape Town in November, emphasising she wanted to remain in the UK to support her young family for whom the year has been difficult too.

Other people responded in the comments sharing their own struggles undergoing chemotherapy and how they can understand how difficult it is. 

One person said: ‘This cancer and chemotherapy survivor is glad to see Kate Middleton has completed her ‘preventative’ chemo treatment and looks to have made a full physical recovery.’

Another added: ‘I cannot express to y’all how horrible chemo is…it’s awful. Please be kind to anyone enduring this.’ 

While a third said: ‘I have seen up close what cancer does to people. At the end of the day Kate Middleton is a mother to three young children, so I’m glad she’s cancer-free & will be able to spend more time with them.’

The new video of the princess and her family – an unprecedented piece of deeply personal footage – was filmed in Norfolk by one of their favourite film-makers, Will Warr.

The setting of the footage is deeply symbolic, drawing on the strength Catherine has drawn from her family and loved ones and from spending time on the things which bring her joy, particularly the sanctuary she has found in the natural world.

It also features her parents, Michael and Carole Middleton, who have been an unwavering source of support.

Catherine announced publicly five months ago that she had been diagnosed with cancer and has been undergoing ‘preventative’ chemotherapy.

‘I am well and getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that will help me heal; in my mind, body and spirits,’ she said at the time, in a highly emotional and unprecedented video message.

The message followed the major abdominal surgery Catherine had in January, where she spent two weeks at the London Clinic in Marylebone.

The news that Catherine is set to return to public duties in the autumn comes after it was revealed yesterday that the King’s health is also heading in a ‘very positive’ direction.

King Charles was diagnosed with cancer in January after undergoing treatment for an enlarged prostate.

The King and Queen are gearing up for an important tour to Australia and Samoa in the autumn – their first major overseas trip since news of Charles’s cancer was announced.

Down-time will be incorporated in Australia and Samoa, with not too many back to back meetings, consideration given to the time difference, and a hoped-for trip to New Zealand removed to reduce the travel demands, but Charles’s programme is still expected to be ‘pretty full on’
