Former Man Utd striker has crafty plan to bag free tickets for Oasis live shows
Teddy Sheringham is leveraging his status as a Manchester United icon to try and score some free Oasis tickets.
Since retiring in 2008, the ex-forward has become a regular on the hospitality circuit and enjoys privileges other fans of the Gallagher brothers can only dream of. Part of his work involves crossover with Wembley, but even the Old Trafford legend isn’t guaranteed a spot when Oasis hit the road next summer.
The Champions League winner won’t be disappointed without at least trying his hand first, however. And Sheringham lifted the lid on precisely how he hopes to get the VIP treatment with a five-finger discount.

“It’s funny; I was asked to do something at Wembley about a year ago. They couldn’t pay me what I was asking for, but they said they could give me a box, for whatever I wanted at Wembley, throughout the year,” he said at the launch of Ladbrokes’ Gaffer of all Accas. “But I couldn’t have the Champions League final or the FA Cup final. So, I’m on the phone and I asked what else there was.”
Initially, Sheringham got an offer for a box at a Taylor Swift concert, which he was ready to decline given he’s not exactly a fan of the country songstress. That was until his wife caught wind of the conversation and quickly set him straight, telling him he’d be taking that job to secure the seats.
“So I had to go back and say I’d do the job for a box at Taylor Swift, and that’s what we had a few weeks ago, for 12 people, so they went and absolutely loved it. Anyway, since Oasis have said they’re going to reunite, I phoned the girl at Wembley [asking] ‘Have you got any jobs at Wembley so I can have a box for Oasis?!’

“She laughed and said she’d see what she can do. . .but everyone wants them, don’t they? It’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and they’re the Golden Tickets at the moment! Let’s hope we get a couple.”
Sheringham’s connections may not be enough to secure the highly sought-after tickets. Oasis are set to perform 19 shows across Manchester, London, Cardiff, Dublin, and Edinburgh, with seven of those taking place at Wembley.
Sheringham and his friends are hoping to be in attendance for one of those gigs. However, even a Manchester United icon like him might be left crying his heart out, just like the rest of those fans who won’t make the cut.
