‘I’m a Man Utd hero however I used to be incorrect on Liverpool and Klopp’s successor Slot’

Teddy Sheringham has shifted his stance on Liverpool’s title chances – crediting new manager Arne Slot for the team’s sterling early season form.

The Reds, guided by the fresh managerial energies of Slot, have stormed out of the blocks this term with three wins from their first three games. Their exciting brand of football and rock-solid defence – yet to concede a single goal – has given fans plenty to cheer about.

Initially sceptical about Liverpool’s prospects in the race for Premier League glory, Manchester United legend Sheringham now reckons they’re serious contenders thanks to Slot’s seamless transition to life at Liverpool. The ex-striker hailed the Dutch gaffer for stepping into Jurgen Klopp’s giant shoes in what he deems a “really clever way”.

Realising the mammoth size of the role left behind by Klopp at Anfield, after the German stepped away following a memorable nine-year spell, Slot seems to have brought a wave of optimism that even has Sheringham buying into his philosophy.

Not only has the 45-year-old Dutchman implemented a promising tactical approach, but his cool-headed nature off the pitch has also won over the United legend.

At the unveiling of Ladbrokes’ “Gaffer of all Accas”, Teddy Sheringham dished out his predictions for the top contenders of this year’s title race. “I think there’s three teams capable of winning the title this year.

“Man City, Arsenal and, while I was unsure about them, with the new manager coming in, I think Liverpool will be up there,” he opined, before noting: “Arne Slot seems to have settled in very nicely. I loved his way of talking,” reports the Mirror.

Sheringham is also full of praise for how Slot has stepped into Klopp’s big shoes at Liverpool. The German legend left a legacy of triumphs, including bagging the Premier League and Champions League trophies.

Yet, the former Spurs striker reckons the Kopites will be chuffed to bits with their new gaffer, especially with the respect he’s shown to Klopp.

“He mentioned Jurgen Klopp in a really clever way; he acknowledged that the fans loved Klopp, he said he loves him too, and he assured the supporters he wouldn’t be changing a lot,” Sheringham remarked.

“I bet they couldn’t believe their luck, when he said that. You know, he just dropped that line in beautifully, for me. I thought it was just fantastic, he’s handled the whole situation brilliantly.”
