Sabrina Carpenter shocks as she kisses an ALIEN at 2024 MTV VMAs

Sabrina Carpenter left fans stunned during her passionate performance at the 2024 MTV VMAs on Wednesday, during which she kissed an alien.

The hitmaker, 25 — who performed her three hits, Please Please Please, Taste, and Espresso — locked lips with a figure dressed in a blue alien suit while onstage.

The bizarre performance also featured backup dancers dressed up as astronauts, creating an otherworldly atmosphere as Carpenter performed sultry dance moves between them.

The singer, who’s currently dating Irish actor Barry Keoghan, 31, sizzled in a sparkling bodysuit with tassels, with her platinum blonde strands cascading down in loose curls. The star completed the look with glittering platform heels.

Sabrina went on to win ‘Song of the Year’ at the awards show, for her smash hit Espresso.

The beauty started out her performance by descending to the stage on a swing as she sang Please Please Please, from her most recent album Short n’ Sweet.

She then transitioned into her song Taste — which she debuted live for the first time — as the alien and astronaut danced together provocatively.

Carpenter, however, interrupted the dance by pushing the astronaut away and passionately kissing the alien.

Her last hit of the night was Espresso.

Sabrina also paid homage to Britney Spears, playing the spoken interlude from the star’s classic hit ‘Oops!…I Did It Again.’

Britney’s 2000 video also featured an astronaut.

Fans swiftly took to social media to share their hilarious reactions to the kiss.

‘SABRINA CARPENTER YOU ARE INSANE,’ one wrote. ‘SABRINA CARPENTER THE ICON YOU ARE WOAHHH SHE CHEWED,’ another added.

‘She just created a iconic moment,’ someone else chimed in.

Others joked that it was her boyfriend Berry underneath the costume.

‘What’s the bets that it’s Berry under there?’ one asked, as another added, ‘Is that Berry?’

Yet another fan wrote, ‘She’s so iconic for this. she just did the newest version of madonna x britney’s moment.’

Notably, in the music video for her song, Taste, released last month, Carpenter was pictured sharing a kiss with Jenna Ortega.

Sabrina had the biggest upset of the night as she defeated her mentor Taylor Swift.

The hitmaker earned the coveted Song Of The Year Moon Person over the pop megastar for her smash hit Espresso.

Sabrina was taken aback as she began her speech saying: ‘Oh! Well, well, well, hi! I’ve literally never won one of these, this is really special. The first people who won are the fans.

‘If you clap after everything I say, they’re going to call me off the stage so once I can but I just want to say, you guys are the reason I get to do what I love. But also the reason we could have so much fun and share music with each other. I just feel so grateful, you’re the best of all of us, it’s so cheesy, but I love you.’

The artist finished off her speech by addressing her gratitude.

She concluded: ‘Thank you, thank you to my managers, thank you to my family, my cats and dogs at home watching, and thank you to the people who made Espresso with me. I love making music with you and I can’t wait to share more music with you. And thank you.’

Taylor was nominated for her song Fortnite which was a collaboration with Post Malone.

Earlier in the night Taylor was the first artist to take home the coveted Moon Person.

Sabrina also mingled with Katy Perry, 39, at the event, and was seen sharing a hug with the pop star.

Sabrina’s boyfriend was not present at the event.

The pair made their first official red carpet debut as couple at the Met Gala in May, after first crossing paths at PFW in September last year before being spotted on a date a few months later.

Last month it was reported that their relationship is said to be ‘on and off’ following reports the pair had split for good.

It was claimed that Sabrina had dumped Barry almost three weeks ago due to the Irish star’s wild partying and him acting an ‘idiot’ when intoxicated.

But now according to PEOPLE their relationship is ‘on and off’ after the Espresso hitmaker leaving their relationship undefined in an interview earlier this year.

When asked by Rolling Stone if she refers to Barry as her boyfriend she said: ‘How do I skirt around this question?’.

‘The [dating] pool is the pool, and when you meet people that feel authentic and are so brilliant and amazing in every way, that’s what you do. Obviously, I write songs about exactly how I feel, so I guess I can’t be so surprised that people are interested in who and what those songs are about.’

She concluded: ‘That’s something that comes with the territory.’
