Gaming upgrades from ‘world’s comfiest chair’ to the ‘final’ gaming triggers’
Every gamer is always on the lookout for the next best thing to upgrade their set-up with – me included.
I’m very much an Xbox and PC gamer, but love a little downtime with some mobile gaming. And as much as I’d love to get something like a Nintendo Switch or PS Portable, it’s not always easy to spaff a ton of money on those kinds of products in today’s cost-of-living-crisis world.
So, with that in mind, I was given the chance to try GameSir’s latest bluetooth mobile controller – the G8+ – to see if that can replace the traditional devices. I was also given the chance to park my aching, ageing, muscles on one of the most comfy chairs on the market, made specifically for gamers, with the Boulies Master Gaming Chair.

But did both devices live up to the hype, and give my gaming set-up that much-needed refresh? Well…yes, but read on.
Boulies Master Gaming Chair – 9/10
If you watch a lot of gaming YouTube, you’ll be famliiar with Boulies. I’m pretty sure that every gamer – be it full on Call of Duty fanatics, to Football Manager players – has one of these chairs. And having spent the last month or so with it, I can see why.
A quick pit stop into the marketing material tells you that it boasts a sleek and ergonomic design that prioritizes both style and comfort. Built with premium materials, it features high-density cold-cured foam padding that molds to your body shape, providing exceptional support and minimizing discomfort during long gaming sessions. The adjustable 4D armrests allow for personalized arm positioning, while the Class 4 hydraulic piston enables smooth height adjustment.
It reclines, has a very comfortable adjustable inner-back rest, and is the perfect height for people who aren’t the tallest. And to put it bluntly, it’s just bloody comfortable – and leaves you with enough support to not feel like you’re about to destroy your spine, like most chairs of this kind.
Also, shout out to whoever decided to give it metal legs, rather than the cheap plastic most chairs have. It’s so much more sturdy than anything I’ve ever tried. The price varies, but is currently on Amazon for around £300, colour depending.
Yes, that sounds like a lot . . . but trust me on this, you will not need a replacement any time soon and you’re going to be feeling the benefits of investigating in such a brilliant item for a long time.
GameSir G8+ – 9.5/10
As I said in the intro, I’m a lover of handheld gaming on my phone, and this device from GameSir has further cemented that. Essentially, you connect it to your phone via Bluetooth, put your device lengthways inside it and get on with your gaming in the same way you would if it were a Switch.
It’s engineered with ergonomic grips and responsive motors, ensuring the comfort and feedback of a traditional console controller. It has a 1000mAh battery – which I’ve not yet had to charge – and works seamlessly with any game I’ve tried. My biggest tip – get an emulator and download some old-school Pokemon. It’s a no-lose situation for the big kid in me.
One of the biggest plus points for this is the weight, at just 314g. It really doesn’t add much to your phone, and has become a go-to addition for my gaming set up when I’m not interested in gaming on a bigger screen.
Get it, re-live your youth.
