Gang member who tortured lady with studying difficulties is free
A key member of a gang which murdered a woman with learning disabilities who was viciously beaten, forced to drink urine before being stripped and left to die has been freed from jail.
Jessica Lynas was one of five convicted over the death of Gemma Hayter, 27, whose body was found at a disused railway line.
Gemma suffered ‘vile’ torture by the gang who had befriended her. The abuse was described by a judge as a ‘chronicle of heartlessness’.
She was hit with a mop, beaten in a flat before being cleaned up and escorted to a disused railway line. There she was stripped naked, was beaten further and forced to have a plastic bag placed over her head.
Her body was found with 55 injuries by a jogger in Rugby, Warwickshire in 2010.
Lynas was sentenced to 13 years for manslaughter after she had left her to die.

After the killing, she heartlessly posted on Facebook a lie to try and divert attention from what had happened and her involvement.
She wrote: ‘Wants 2 knw wat happened on hilly road.. is it true they found a body?’
MailOnline can reveal she has been released from prison.
And Boyer – who urinated in the can and made Gemma drink it – has a Parole Board hearing in October.
Parole bosses could release him then or move him to open conditions.
A HM Prison and Probation Service spokesperson said: ‘Offenders released on licence are subject to strict conditions and we do not hesitate to recall them to prison if they break the rules.’
It is not known exactly when she was freed, but it is understood to be in recent months.
Other gang members, Chantelle Booth, 22, her boyfriend Daniel Newstead, 20, and Joe Boyer, 18, were given life sentences at the Old Bailey after a jury convicted them of murder.
Duncan Edwards, 19, got 15 years for manslaughter.

Gemma, who never had a formal diagnosis for a disability, was turned away from social services for decades, despite repeated pleas for help from both her and her family.
It was while living in the flats that Gemma fell in with the crowd who eventually killed her.
Gemma was being forced to steal things on the gang’s behalf and friends said she had been coerced into stashing drugs including crack and heroin which she thought were ‘presents’.
A case review into the events of the killing said there had been allegations that Lynas has attacked another girl.
A source said: ‘It’s shocking that Lynas has been freed. This was a crime which shocked the nation and was cruel beyond belief.
‘It’s disgusting.
‘The poor victim did not stand a chance with those savages.
‘She will be free to get on with her life now having taken Gemma’s.
‘She even tried to cover her tracks with the Facebook post.’
