‘Indian summer season’ to kick off this weekend with ‘very popular to excessive warmth’ in UK
A resolute forecaster maintains the UK is about to experience an ‘Indian summer’ his weekend. This is despite many Brits starting to switch their heating on and the Met Office forecasting snow.
Temperatures have noticeably plunged lately and some people have their minds set on Christmas, but Exacta Weather’s James Madden has said don’t put away the BBQ just yet.
And William Hill agrees, saying that Britain is 6/1 to soak up hottest ever September. Despite the Met Office and others forecasting colder conditions, and reports of an ‘Arctic chill’, Madden stuck to his guns.

Taking to Facebook today, September 13, he said: “Indian Summer Returning + Very HOT To Extreme Heat Also Set To Arrive On Cue For The UK & Ireland Within Days!!!
“The well-promised area of significant high pressure will now start to influence our weather from this weekend, and some prolonged periods of sunshine and settled weather will begin to kick in across some large parts of the UK and Ireland.”
This will more than likely result in warmer conditions, particularly across the southern half of the country on Sunday, Madden said.
The heat will intensify around the Monday to Wednesday period, September 16-18, and also spread north.
“To sum up the potential temperature types in this period, they do look continually very hot to extreme across all computer models, especially for the start of autumn and September,” Madden said.
The lower end of the scale will see maximum temperatures in the low to mid 30s in the hottest spots of the south of the UK to begin with, whilst the higher end could see temperatures ranging in the mid to high 30s at the very least, Madden claimed.
The whole of the UK and Ireland “will all experience some quite intense heat in the mid to high 20s to low 30s at the very least.”
The weather, despite “losing its sting”, could even sustain to next week.
Madden added: “So throughout this weekend and most of the working week during next week is at least 5-7 days of varying warm to hot to extreme heat to some then potentially less hot but extra summery days to follow (this could therefore be termed a PROLONGED and SIGNIFICANT period of Indian summer weather and warm to hot to extreme heat).”
William Hill have also opened betting on a record-breaking September, which stands at 15.2c from last year.
William Hill spokesperson, Lee Phelps, said: “With warmer temperatures expected to return next week, we think there’s a fair chance that it could be the warmest September on record.
“With the prospects of an Indian Summer clearly on the horizon, we’re a cautious 6/1 for the current record average temperature for September of 15.2c to be broken.”
However, according to the experts UK Weather Forecast, it won’t just be wind, rain and a drop in temperatures – we’re going to be getting some frost in the coming days.
The Met Office also warned of snow flurries in Scotland amid cold air, with daytime highs of just 12C in northern parts and nights as low as 2C. WX Charts maps also showed an incoming -5 Arctic blast.
