‘Most tattooed’ Brit mum dubbed ‘Crayola’ shares again to high school heartbreak
Britain’s “most inked mum” has shared her heartache after her 800+ tattoos damped her back to school buzz.
Melissa Sloan, the Kidderminster-based mum-of-seven said she was gutted she couldn’t join in the annual school shop because of the attention she gets from curious strangers.
Opening up, the 47-year-old said: “I feel heartbroken that I can’t take my kids back to school supply shopping. I avoid going to the shops most of the time my partner does most of our food shops but it’s particularly painful not to be able to partake in such a common parental activity.”

Melissa revealed how her trip down the aisles turns heads, with looks of horror from parents and their children.
“I would love to go out with my kids and help them choose supplies but strangers won’t leave me alone. When we’re in the children’s or back-to-school section in shops, other parents stare. Their children point at me some of them laugh or start crying when they see me because they are scared.”
The tat-clad mum also revealed the lengths she goes to dodge the gawks, including caking herself in heavy foundation in a bid to conceal them.
“When I do go out, I have to cover my face in thick foundation. It’s hard because my kids need new uniforms and stationery just like any other children do. They don’t care that I’m inked so I don’t get why it’s such a big deal to other people, parents especially,” reports Birmingham Live.
Melissa, dubbed ‘Crayola’ by some, has decided to lean on her partner for school runs or switch to online shopping to dodge the stares. Despite the backlash and how it’s affecting her day-to-day life, she doesn’t rue her tattooed journey.
She said: “I shouldn’t have to hide my body from other people. My tattoos should be accepted and understood. It gets tiring having to avoid public places due to the way I look and people lacking understanding.”
She continued: “While it can be a major inconvenience, I don’t regret my tattoos I love the way I look. If other people can’t handle it, that’s their problem.”
But it’s not just school shopping that’s been a headache for Melissa. She’s found herself barred from various local spots including her favourite pub and church, and even shuns the beach or bikinis to avoid giving kids a fright.
