Man Utd despatched barbed message by Jadon Sancho after star dazzles on Chelsea debut

Jadon Sancho has been singing Chelsea’s praises after his rocky spell at Manchester United.

The England international fell out with Erik ten Hag last term, ending up back at Borussia Dortmund on loan following a bust-up with the Dutchman. While the pair looked to have settled their differences this summer upon Sancho’s return to Old Trafford, he was still shipped out on deadline day to Chelsea.

Sancho made the switch to Stamford Bridge on a temporary deal, which could become permanent if he performs well. And in the Blues Saturday night clash against Bournemouth, his first Premier League game in over 12 months, he assisted Christopher Nkunku’s last gasp winner, with Chelsea beating the Cherries 1-0, reports the Mirror.

Chatting with Sky Sports post-match after Chelsea clinched a 1-0 victory, Sancho said: “First of all it is amazing to make my debut for Chelsea. Just being back playing I’m very grateful. The team played very well and we are happy with the three points.”

He continued: “I’ve been working hard for this moment and I’m just happy that I got my chance. I had a great end to last season being in the Champions League final. I’m just happy to make my debut for Chelsea. I have to thank all the staff and my team-mates. The first day I came in, they made me feel welcome and I’m so happy to feel this comfortable.”

Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca opened up about Sancho following the team’s victory. While Ten Hag mentioned “strict lines” regarding Sancho’s treatment last season, Maresca seems impressed with the player’s conduct so far.

“I don’t see problems around Jadon [Sancho], around Joao [Felix], I don’t see anything negative to be honest,” Maresca revealed to Sky Sports. “Jadon is a very good player and I knew, because I know him, that he is a very good player and can help us. Now all the noise around him, I don’t care. With us he’s very polite, training well on and off the ball. We are happy for him.”

“He [Sancho] did exactly what we expected from him and Tosin Adarabioyo was the same and Christopher Nkunku too,” Maresca further commented during a Match of the Day interview. “Joao Felix was very good. All the guys from the bench were very good.”

“We were creating chances and we needed just a bit more quality from inside the box and he [Sancho] did that. Nkunku is not starting but he is working very well.”
