I attempted Greggs’ new autumn menu — one £1.65 merchandise was the perfect I’ve ever had however I gave up on one other

Autumn is the best time of year to treat yourself, with lots of warming snacks hitting menus just as the weather turns colder. And now Greggs has released their new autumn-inspired menu with new hot chocolates, lattes, a doughnut and even an all-day breakfast sandwich.

I decided to try some of the baked goods on the menu to see if they were a treat worth the hype, or a trick not worth your money. I ordered almost all the autumn items but was disappointed that my local Greggs was already out of the new Mexican Spicy Cheese Flatbread despite it being only 9am!

However, the new breakfast sandwich was in stock, which I was very glad about. This is what I thought about the new Greggs autumn menu

All Day Breakfast Sandwich – £4.65

Massive: the Greggs autumn breakfast sandwich

It is great starting your day with something hearty, and breakfast lovers can now rejoice as Gregg’s new breakfast sandwich can be bought at any time of the day. It was filled with scrambled egg, rashers of bacon and sausage with tomato sauce all inside a baguette.

This sandwich was really tasty and absolutely massive. I ate about half of it before I was full. What impressed me the most about this sandwich was that the baguette was perfectly crispy on the outside without being hard to bite into and, despite the sauce inside, was not soggy like a lot of breakfast sandwiches can be. I highly recommend this.

Orange Hot Chocolate – £3.10

I am a big hot chocolate lover and always look forward to having a Chocolate Orange in my stocking at Christmas time, so I was shocked when I did not like this drink. It only had a slight orange flavour but tasted far too sweet and the sugary taste was overwhelming. I took a few sips of this before deciding it was not for me.

Pumpkin Spice Doughnut – £1.65

I think this is the best doughnut I have ever tried at Greggs. It was a mix of caramel and spiced pumpkin which really went well together. It was covered with a icing glaze and a biscuit crumb, then when you bit into it you got the tasty orange pumpkin spiced filling.

The doughnut was fluffy and an incredibly satisfying treat. You could taste the cinnamon without it being overpowering. If you are someone who usually orders the caramel custard doughnut at Greggs or enjoys caramel-flavoured treats then I think you would really enjoy this doughnut.

I ended up eating it with the Greggs pumpkin spice latte so I highly recommend ordering both together as it was the best treat to have to warm me up in a cold Scottish morning.

Pumpkin Spice Latte – £3.00

Nothing is more classically autumn than a pumpkin spice latte, so it is no surprise that Gregg is offering their own version of this famous drink. I was not expecting to enjoy this drink as much as I did. It was creamy and flavoursome without overpowering the coffee.

It has a slight taste of pumpkin spice and cinnamon which really complimented the latte and was a fantastic cosy drink to start the day with. This was my favourite thing on the menu and I am usually someone who is more of a tea drinker than a latte drinker.
