Nicola Coughlan followers slam ‘impolite’ Emmy Awards company
Nicola Coughlan made her debut at the 2024 Emmy Awards on Sunday – but fans have criticised the way she appeared to be treated on the red carpet.
The Bridgerton star, 37, turned heads in a silver Prabal Gurung gown as she posed up a storm at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles.
But some ‘rude’ guests seemed to be unaware of the Irish actress’ presence – with several people walking in front of Nicola as she tried to get her photo snapped on the busy red carpet.
In clips shared on X, formerly Twitter, a couple could be seen walking in front of the photographer. Seconds later, the cameraman ushers another person away who got in the way of their picture taking. It’s unclear who the guests are.
The 17-second footage left fans fuming, with one person writing: ‘She’s being so sweet about it. People would have gotten knocked over.’
Another individual questioned: ‘Why are those old people walking like she wasn’t there?’
A third added: ‘Don’t red carpets usually have a back route behind the step and repeat to avoid this situation? Or are these old guys just being deliberately rude?’
A fourth wrote: ‘Let the queen enjoy her moment why they keep disrupting her,’ while a fifth echoed this, writing: ‘This is just plain rude.’
Another person said: ‘And she’s still being so sweet about it too… she doesn’t deserve to be treated like this.’
Nicola looked fantastic in a dazzling off-the-shoulder silver sequin gown which showcased her incredible figure.
The Derry Girls star’s eye catching dress boasted a stylish neckline and cascaded into a structured layered skirt.
Styling her long blonde tresses in a neat half up do, the Irish actress accessorised with a simple pair of drop earrings.
She seemed in good spirits as she flashed her gorgeous smile while posing up a storm for photos on the star-studded red carpet.

The 76th annual Primetime Emmy Awards was hosted by Eugene Levy and Dan Levy, who made history as the first father-son duo to present the programme.
In 2020, the actors took home their own respective Emmy Awards for their work on their hit series, Schitt’s Creek, which they created and starred in for six seasons.
‘For two Canadians who won our Emmys in a literal quarantine tent, the idea of being asked to host this year in an actual theatre was incentive enough,’ they said in a statement to Vanity Fair, last month, while confirming their hosting gig.
The pair continued: ‘We’re thrilled to be able to raise a glass to this extraordinary season of television and can’t wait to spend the evening with you all.’
Hacks beat The Bear in a major upset for the top comedy honor as Shogun swept the board in record-breaking fashion for the drama categories at the 76th Primetime Emmy Awards which featured a star-studded red carpet.

The HBO comedy starring Jean Smart – who earned Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series – and Hannah Einbinder ended the night on top with a win in the Outstanding Comedy Series category over the FX series at the gala event held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, California on Sunday.
Meanwhile Shogun broke the all-time record for a single season of TV with 18 as the show not only earned top honor Outstanding Drama Series but also Outstanding Lead Actress and Actor In A Drama Series for Anna Sawai and Hiroyuki Sanada, respectively.
When it came to the limited or anthology series categories, it was Netflix smash-hit Baby Reindeer which earned Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series in addition to Outstanding Lead Actor In A Limited Or Anthology Series for Richard Gadd and Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Limited Or Anthology Series for Jessica Gunning.
This year’s ceremony was held less than a year after the 75th edition of the show which took place this past January after being moved back from its intended September 2023 date due to the writers and actors strikes.
