The devastating event unfolded at Italy’s Reggio Calabria Airport. ITA Airways Flight 1156, set for Rome, was delayed into the evening, creating a domino effect of delays.

Cario, a Naples native, served as a flight attendant with ITA Airways and lived in Sabaudia. She used to fly both locally and internationally out of Rome, reports the Mirror.

Today, her hometown of Sabaudia will say goodbye to Gabriella in a funeral service, according to NeedToKnow. The reason behind her untimely death is still shrouded in mystery, only characterised so far as a “sudden illness.”
