Queen’s ‘unprecedented’ provide to Meghan to make her blissful in Royal Family
When Meghan Markle entered the Royal scene as Prince Harrys new flame, she wasn’t just any other love interest – the late Queen Elizabeth II spotted something unique about her. Meghan, besides her success on the small screen and charitable endeavours, was tapped by the savvy Sovereign as a potential asset to the Monarchy.
In an eye-opening chat with Mirror US, Paul Burrell, Princess Diana’s one-time butler, disclosed that Her Majesty went the extra mile in making an extraordinary proposition to Meghan which spoke volumes about her acceptance into the Royal fold.
“The Queen was very gracious and very kind to Meghan. She even said to Meghan, ‘You can continue acting if you like, continue your career. ‘ But Meghan, choosing to embrace her Royal role full-time, never took the historic offer; instead, during her engagement interview, she mused: “I don’t see it as giving anything up, I just see it as a change.”
Meghan elaborated on closing that chapter of her life saying, “It’s a new chapter. And also keep in mind I [have] been working on my show for seven years. So we’re very, very fortunate to be able to have that sort of longevity on a series and for me, once we hit the 100-episode marker, I thought, You know what, I have ticked this box, and I feel really proud of the work I’ve done there, and now it’s time to, as [Harry] said, ‘work as a team with [him]. ‘”.
Meghan Markle certainly nailed her Royal role in record time. Not long after tying the knot, she was dished out her very first Royal patronages, with each lined up perfectly with her personal passions, reports the Mirror.
A nod from the Queen herself saw Meghan take under her wing The National Theatre and The Association of Commonwealth Universities. Never one to shy away from her beliefs, she also championed two charities reflecting her feminist stance and love for our furry friends – Smart Works and Mayhew.
Royal insider Paul Burrell didn’t hold back on his take, suggesting that comments like the one made by the Queen showed just how keen she was to keep Meghan and Harry on the inside. He spilled: “It’s mind-boggling the amount of goodwill which Meghan and Harry have thrown away. I think that’s why it came as a particular blow to the Queen when Harry left the Royal Family because she didn’t want him to. She wanted him to stay, and she tried her hardest to persuade them to stay.”
