Rookie cop sees prices over lag relationship dropped – however faces misconduct
Criminal charges against a glam rookie police officer who allegedly had a relationship with a drug kingpin lag have been dropped by the CPS.
Caitlin Howarth, 24, was suspended from duty in 2021 and was subsequently charged over what was described as “a relationship with a notifiable association with criminal connections”, by West Yorkshire Police.
Howarth, who had been placed on unconditional bail and charged with misconduct in a public office, remains the subject of misconduct proceedings brought by the policing authority.

It was widely reported at the time that Howarth – who boasts over 10k Instagram followers – had an alleged affair with a married Chief Superintendent named Daniel Greenwood, 41.
He is currently suspended from duty and faces allegations of gross misconduct relating to his alleged conduct towards a constable between March 2019 and November 2021, according to reports.
In regards to the criminal proceedings, Ms Howarth, who worked in Bradford, first appeared before York Magistrates’ Court in April.
But on Tuesday, September 17, it was announced the Crown Prosecution Service would not offer any evidence in the case, meaning she was acquitted of the charge.
Ms Howarth, who is no longer a police officer after resigning from her role, was contacted by the Daily Star but declined to comment.
The Sun reported that the lag she allegedly had a relationship with is currently serving a hefty prison sentence for supplying heroin.
It is alleged she failed to notify her superiors at West Yorkshire Police of her links to him.
