UK’s most prolific feminine shoplifter who dons disguises will get 171st conviction

Britain’s top female thief, who cunningly dons various hats as criminal disguises, has been convicted for the 171st time.

Tanya Liddle, the infamous “one woman crimewave”, has been a thorn in the side of shopkeepers for years and has been nicked nearly 400 times.

The 43-year-old serial shoplifter has stacked up a whopping 171 convictions, 150 of which are for raiding stores. Known for her crafty wardrobe of hats used to conceal her identity, she prowls shops looking for goods to pilfer.

In the video, she can be seen heaving bags on her arms as she strolls out of the shop at Westmorland Retail Park in Cramlington, Northumberland without batting an eyelid.

Liddle, hailing from Newcastle, has been slapped with a ban from all stores in the North East save for one pharmacy, supermarket, and clothes shop.

After a determined push from Northumbria Police, Newcastle Civil Court dropped a massive civil injunction on her last Thursday (12/9), touted as the toughest restriction slapped on a repeat offender by the force to date.

Should Liddle step out of line with the order, she could end up behind bars.

Delighted Inspector Patrick Hannon said: “We are pleased to have secured this order, which is thanks to the excellent and tireless work of our officers.”

“Liddle has consistently targeted retailers for a number of years and exhausted every opportunity given to her to change her ways.”

Police hope the ban sends out a warning to others

“With that in mind, we feel that this is the best way to manage her offending.”

“The severity of this order demonstrates the seriousness of her criminality and the significant impact it has had on the retail community within the region, which is something we will simply not accept.”

“I hope this ruling sends a clear message to other shoplifters that your behaviour will not be tolerated and you will be brought to justice.”

“I’d like to reassure the public that should we find Liddle to be in a premises she shouldn’t be, we will not hesitate to take action and get her arrested.”

“We hope that this news offers reassurance to the wider community and, as a Force, we will continue to do everything in our power to act on concerns reported and bring effective justice against prolific offenders.”
